STACEY Kemp has been officially selected for Team GB for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

The British Olympic Association (BOA) announced that Chorley’s Kemp and partner David King will represent Team GB in the pairs in Russia in February.

It will be the second time that Kemp, 25, and King, 29, will have appeared in the Winter Olympics having finished in 16th place in Vancouver in 2010.

The pair, who have been nine-time British champions, currently train at Southwest Florida Figure Skating Club having previously been based at Blackburn Arena.

Kemp, a former Blackburn College student, said she was proud to have been included in the GB squad.

“Our whole four years have been focused towards the Winter Olympics,” she said.

“We have sacrificed so much to get here and we feel so proud to have been selected.

“The buzz you get being part of Team GB, living in the Olympic Village and competing for your country is incredible; we can’t wait to get to Sochi now.”

Meanwhile, Paula Walker and Kristan Bromley continue their build-up for Sochi in Lake Placid this weekend in the latest round of the World Cup.

Blackburn bobsleigh ace Walker, 27, pilot of the GB number one sled, has enjoyed a steady start to her campaign with brakeswoman Rebekah Wilson – finishing in 10th place in Calgary before following up with an eighth place finish in Park City, Utah.

Bromley, 41, from Waterfoot, is aiming to reach his fourth Olympic Games.

He will be hoping to improve on the results of his skeleton bob World Cup campaign after he was 15th in Calgary and 17th in Park City.

Neither Walker or Bromley have yet had their Olympic places confirmed.
