Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form’s Netball Academy team strengthened its winning reputation by triumphing at the North West regional BCS (British Colleges Sport) Netball tournament, held in Manchester.

Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form has a highly successful Netball Academy, which has won the North West BCS Netball League for the past four consecutive years. At the North West regional tournament, the girls won all five of their group games to set up a semi final clash with Loreto College which they won 10-5.

In the final they were up against Priestly College and ran out 10-8 winners to retain the title.

The winning team includedAnnie Wyld, Nikki Harper, Olivia Bythell, Olivia Purtill, Sophie Valentine, Mawgan Naylor, Lucy Alderman, Esther Williams, Jodie Sutcliffe and Emily Wilson.

Sport Tutor Lora Speak said: “It was a very close competition in the final but I was so proud of our girls and the effort they put in. They wanted to come away with the plate from word go. “They worked hard and fantastically as a team and deserved to win.”
