United lose their unbeaten record

BLACKBURN United suffered their first defeat of the season in the Blackburn Combination, dumped out of the Birtwistle Cup by title rivals Rishton United.

United are seven points clear of Rishton in the Blackburn Combintion Premier League, but Rishton eased themselves through to the semi-finals with a convincing 2-0 win.

Hole I'Th Wall also enjoyed cup success with a 3-2 win at Anchor, while Blackburn Olympic are also in the hat, edging out Feildens Arms 2-1.

Wellington Inn thrashed Clifton 4-1.

It was also quarter-finals day in the Eddleston Cup and Alexandra Hotel led the charge with a crushing 7-1 win over Blackburn Eagles.

Blackburn United Reserves are also through after they cruised to a 4-0 win over Whalley Range.

The Ivy Veterans made no mistake, a 3-0 victory over Rishton United Reserves easing them into the last four, while IMO clawed their way to a 2-1 win over The Lion.

In the only Premier Division fixture, Vauxhall Inn scored a hard fought 1-0 victory over bottom club Islington.
