BLACKBURN schoolgirl Brenna McPartlan has landed an England call-up after leading Lancashire girls to victory.

Brenna, who attends St Bede’s High School in the town, was the star performer as Lancashire made it through to the second round of the English Schools FA Inter-Counties National Under-14 Cup.

Lancs will now line up against Shropshire following their impressive 5-3 win over Greater Manchester at LFA headquarters in Leyland.

Lancashire FA spokesman Michael Nadal said: “We recommended Brenna to England because she has played so well this season.

“Brenna scored once against Greater Manchester and turned provider for two other goals, so now she is in the full England Under-15 squad and she thoroughly deserves to be there because she is a super footballer.”

McPartlan is a true sporting all-rounder, having represented her school in athletics, badminton, swimming and table tennis.

She helped St Bede’s win the borough table tennis title and also won the 25m butterfly in the borough swimming gala.
