READ United and Enfield upset the odds in the second round of the East Lancashire League's President’s Cup after they knocked out big-hitters Mill Hill and Rimington.
Read came out on top in a seven goal thriller to beat cup holders Mill Hill while former winners and reigning Divison One champions Rimington slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Enfield. In contrast, The Ivy, the current Division One leaders, kept their double dream alive after easing into the third round of the Cup with a 4-0 victory over Prairie United.
Shaun Watson led the charge with a quick-fire brace while Carl and Paul Egan also chipped in.
Whinney Hill were the big winners in the competition, cutting down Pendle Forest 7-1. Burnley Athletic are also through, beating Feniscowles and Pleasington 3-1.
Borrowdale United celebrated a hard-fought 2-1 win at Worsthorne while Ossie St Mary’s came away from Barrowford Celtic with an impressive 4-2 win.
Barnoldswick Town United won 2-1 at Colne United. In the Second Division, Burnley Belvedere eased into fourth spot with a 4-2 win over strugglers Waddington, while Canberra thrashed bottom club Peel Park 6-0. In the Reserve Cup second round, Stacksteads SJ crushed Barrowford Celtic 11-0 and Mill Hill were also among the goals, posting a 6-2 win over Whinney Hill.
