CHORLEY can hit the top of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division tonight as they head to Droylsden on a mission.

Garry Flitcroft’s magnificent Magpies have won a club record 12 games on the spin – and a win over the rock-bottom Manchester outfit will see them move above leaders Skelmersdale and put them on top of the tree.

Chorley were forced to dig deep on Saturday as they won through to the second round of the FA Trophy thanks to a 2-1 win over Curzon Ashton, a success made all the more impressive given the fact the Magpies were reduced to 10 men after just 30 minutes of the game.

It didn’t stop them winning through, though, and their reward for that success is a tasty second round tie with either Skrill Premier League strugglers Dartford or big spending outfit Forest Green Rovers, who also ply their trade in the top tier of non-league football, in the final 32.

The game will be played on Saturday, December 14 with the first round replay to determine Chorley’s opponents taking place tonight.

But before then there is the major matter of tonight’s trip to the Butcher’s Arms to face a Bloods side who are in crisis.

Droylsden have just two points this season thanks to two draws in their 21 matches and have shipped 80 goals to date.

Flitcroft has a full squad available for the trip and the Magpies will be backed by a travelling army in Greater Manchester as they shoot for the summit.
