MONDAY mornings are always more bearable after a good win, and it felt good to get back on track this weekend.

Putting the puck away has been a problem for us in recent weeks, but we brushed the cobwebs off by brushing Telford Titans aside with a scoreline of 16-1.

The Shropshire side is going through a development year this season. All credit to them for sticking with it and going out every week and putting the effort in. But they’re conceding a lot of goals and are going to have tough year. You can only beat what is put in front of you though, and to do it so convincingly is just what we needed to get out of this sticky patch.

Every team goes through a bad spell each season and hopefully that’s the end of ours now and we can push on.

It was important that we didn’t take the game lightly on Sunday, but I don’t think we could have afford to do that in our situation.

I’m pleased to say that we went out with the right attitude and right mentality to get the result.

My only gripe is that despite us scoring 16 I didn’t get on the scoresheet once.

I normally chip in with a few in a season – I’ve only got the one to date – but as long as I’m contributing with a few assists and we’re winning I’ll settle for that.

It’s about taking it forward now, and building a bit of momentum with the two-game weekend coming up and use the weekend just gone as a turning point.

Hopefully we’ll be at full strength for our double header.

Coach Jared Owen couldn’t play against hometown team Telford because of injury, but he is more of a big-game player so perhaps it wasn’t a bad one for him to miss.

It’s different when he’s on the bench instead of the ice because when you come off he can tell you where you’ve gone wrong. When he’s playing he doesn’t always get to see the game as much, so it probably did him a bit of good to have that overview and monitor our strengths and our weaknesses in preparation for a big weekend.

We’re in cup action away to Sutton on Saturday first, then there’s the visit of Manchester Minotaurs in the league.

They’re a bit unpredictable in their performances, but we’re guaranteed a tough game.
