JAMES Beattie praised his players after Accrington Stanley made it seven points in the space of seven days with a 2-1 win at Morecambe.

Stanley still remain bottom of League Two on 10 points but followed up Tuesday’s first league victory of the season, and a draw at home to Oxford last weekend, with an impressive derby triumph.

“I’m delighted for the boys,” Beattie said.

“They’re starting to get what they deserve from matches. It’s been a good week and we’re very happy to get three points.”

Beattie believes Stanley’s ability to convert their chances is the reason why they have suddenly started winning.

“That’s probably the only major difference,” he said.

“I can tell them a million times what faith I have in them but until they actually see it for themselves, they’ve been gaining the confidence from that.

“When Morecambe equalised they put us under pressure and the Accrington Stanley of old maybe would have conceded again and lost. But there’s a new confidence instilled.”
