Hartley finishes on the podium
8:56am Thursday 24th October 2013 in Sport
WORSTHORNE'S Harry Hartley ended the National Superstock 600 Championship in fine style as he moved from 25th to second in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch.
Hartley has been competing in the championship, a feeder series to the British Superbike Championship, throughout 2013 but his best results have come in the final two races.
The 16-year-old finished in fifth place at Silverstone at the start of the month and followed that up with his first podium of the year.
Hartley qualified in 25th but carved his way through the field in wet conditions during the race, which lasted only 12 laps.
Competing for MWR Kawasaki, by the end he was only one place and five seconds behind winner Callan Cooper.
That gave Hartley 20 points to add to the 11 he secured at Silverstone.
His total of 46 for the year put him 14th in the championship, which was won by Luke Hedger – a year after the Bristolian claimed the British Motostar Championship with Burnley team FPW Racing.
Daniel Kinloch, of Colne's Appleyard/Macadam Racing, was 30th at Brands Hatch.
