Blackburn United lead in Blackburn Combination Premier League title

BLACKBURN United are out in front in the race for the Blackburn Combination Premier League title.
United proved far too strong for town rivals Blackburn Olympic, running out 4-0 winners to stretch their lead at the summit to three points.
Second-placed Clifton are hot on their heels, though, after a 3-0 win over bottom club The Ivy Reserves, who have just one point from four games.
Rishton United went goal crazy with an 8-1 win over strugglers Islington to secure a top five place thanks to goals from Liam Hutchinson (4) Aaron Ashton (2) and Jamie Taylor and Matt Pendergast Anchor clocked up their first win of the campaign with a 1-0 win at Greenfield, while Wellington Inn edged past Fielden Arms 2-1.
Whalley Range are the leaders in Division Two and strengthened their grip at the summit with a routine 2-0 win over Ivy Vets.
Blackburn United Reserves have fired in 29 goals in just six starts this term, and their 9-2 thrashing of bottom club Blackburn Eagles pushed them into third position.
Worth Avenue, who are also without a point this term, were crushed 5-2 at home by IMO.
The Lion were also on the end of a mauling, beaten 6-2 at home by Rishton United Reserves.
Clayton Park won 4-2 at The Alexandra Hotel.
