RISHTON United Under 12s didn’t have to wait long to get their revenge against top of the table Greyhound – exactly one week!

Following their 3-1 defeat to the Greyhound in the league, the two teams met again in the cup and this time it was a different proposition.

And it was Ethan Hartland who was the hero of the day for Rishton as his second half hat-trick completed a 5-1 victory.

Rishton started the game brightly; full of energy and passing the ball around.

However, just like last week, they found themselves a goal down as a slick counterattack put Greyhound 1-0 up.

But Rishton refused to buckle and continued to apply the pressure and drew level – although there was a touch of good fortune about the leveller as Luke Livesey’s cross deflected in off a defender.

The teams went in level at the break but Rishton took the lead early in to the second half when Hartland grabbed his first, a stunning right foot free kick in to the roof of the net.

There was to be no denying Rishton or Hartland as he proved his left foot was as lethal as his right with another thumping strike to make it 3-1.

Jacob Hyde, Livesey, Jack Kennedy and Callum Campbell all impressed for Rishton and one flowing move ended with Campell making it 4-1.

And with time running out, Hartland rounded off another good move to complete his hat-trick.

Rishton U11s Red came from behind three times to beat Padiham Saints 5-4in their own thrilling cup tie.

The Saints raced to a 2-0 lead before goals from Alex Haworth and Tom Voce levelled matters.

In a pulsating cup tie, Padiham Saints then went 3-2 and 4-3 with Haworth equalising on each occasion before Declan Penaluna thumped home a superb late winner.

Josh Digby (2), Pat Wood, Andrew Noblet, Cameron Holt, Josh Digby, Jack Foley and Tom Cohen all scored as Rishton U16s beat Huncoat 7-0.
