Ings brace steers Burnley's Clarets into round four
10:02am Wednesday 25th September 2013 in Sport
BURNLEY are into the last 16 of the Capital One Cup thanks to a Danny Ings double.
The Clarets conceded first for only the second time this season, and for the first time they bounced back to win and knock league rivals Nottingham Forest out of the competition.
Matt Derbyshire gave Billy Davies' side the lead midway through the first half.
Top scorer Ings equalised before the break with his eighth of the season, and one of his finest.
The striker turned on the edge of the box after receiving Kieran Trippier’s pass and fired past Dorus De Vries.
Although Tom Heaton was required in the second half, the Clarets carved out most of the chances and were rewarded when Ings met Junior Stanislas’ free kick to stretch their unbeaten run to six games with a third win in the space of a week.
