Wilcox makes return

TERRY Martin will team up with former Lombard RAC Rally driver Darren Wilcox for Sunday’s Stobart Rail Pendragon Stages in Cumbria.
It will be Wilcox’s first time behind the wheel after a 10-year rally sabbatical, and map-man Martin admits he is looking forward to the track action at the Warcop Army Ranges.
“Darren’s a fine driver, and he is just getting back into it after a decade out, so we are both buzzing about it,” said Martin, a member of Clitheroe and District Motor Club.
“He used to be very quick, and has a good reputation with plenty of class wins under his belt.
“Darren has dabbled in a bit of rally-cross since, and he has been looking after other people’s cars, so he is looking forward to this one as much as me.”
The pair teamed up for the first time last week for a day’s testing at Teesside Aerodrome where they put the Ex-Prodrive GPN Subaru Impreza vehicle through its paces.
“The car packed a real punch,” added Martin. “We are not really expecting to set the world alight on Sunday but a top 15 place is a realistic target.”
