9:40pm Tuesday 17th September 2013 in Sport
BLACKBURN Rovers could not overturn a two-goal half time deficit as they were beaten at Leicester City tonight.
Lloyd Dyer fired the Foxes in front in the 16th minute after collecting a pass from Andy King.
David Nugent then doubled the home side’s lead from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time after Tommy Spurr was controversially adjudged to have fouled Ritchie De Laet, despite claims that he won the ball.
But Rovers converted a penalty of their own with 20 minutes left to halve the deficit, with Jordan Rhodes netting from the spot after substitute Chris Taylor had been brought down by Danny Drinkwater.
Kasper Schmeichel had to save Scott Dann’s header on the goal-line but Rovers could not find an equaliser.
Rovers: Jake Kean, Todd Kane, Scott Dann, Grant Hanley, Tommy Spurr, Ben Marshall (Markus Olsson 65), Jason Lowe, Corry Evans (Chris Taylor 65), Josh King, Tom Cairney, Jordan Rhodes. Subs not used: Simon Eastwood, Matt Kilgallon, Josh Morris, Alex Marrow, Alan Judge.
