Blackburn 93 Workington 0 BLACKBURN secured their first win of the new season with an emphatic 93-0 victory over Workington at Ramsgreave Drive.
Burn were disappointed with the loss at Aspatria and were determined to make up for it and they did that and more as they thrashed Workington, scoring 14 tries in a comfortable bonus point win Burn had a quick start as Liam Oldham went over as the locals drove from the kick-off with Jamie Mayall added the two extra points.
Mayall then kicked a penalty and on 11 minutes they had their second try as Ali Wilde went in.
Rick Maudsley then crossed and on 18 minutes the home side secured a bonus point as they scored their fourth try through Sam Morgan, which Mayall converted from close to the touch line.
Wilde scored his second try, Sean Hall scored out wide and Mayall went in and managed to convert his own try taking the score to 48-0 at half time.
The second half started how the first ended with another try for Burn, this time through Danny Holland and Sam Morgan’s kick made it 55-0.
Marc Mayer went over on 50 minutes before Danny Holland also crossed and it was 67-0.
Mayer scored his second try of the day, Garcia went in and Maudsley crossed again before Ben Renton touched down for the final time.
Morgan kicked the conversion taking the score to 93-0 and after that the referee blew up a little early.
It was an exceptional win for Burn and it was nice that the hard work on the training ground paid off.
However they should not get carried away as much tougher tests face them and this starts next week when they face another difficult trip to Cumbria as they take on Whitehaven.
