Classy Clifton show they’re Sunday best in Blackburn Sunday League

Clifton continue to lead the way in the Pelle Menswear Division One another emphatic 11-3 victory over previously unbeaten Havelock, while New Gardeners were close behind with a very good 7-2 win away to a depleted Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s.
Mill Hill and Bee Hive met in a in a repeat of the Charity Shield with Mill Hill again coming out on top with a 4-2 victory.
Division One new boys AMT Lawyers and Longshaw both won – the former beating Station 3-1 while Longshaw recorded their first win with a good 3-0 win over Intack.
In The Station Hotel Division Two, Royal Oak had a very good 4-1 win away to previously unbeaten Whinney Hill, while Black Bull and Stanhill WMC wins, Black Bull beating Rishton Roebuck 4-1 while Stanhill triumphed 4-2 against Darwen Victoria.
JQ Plumbing continue to improve with in excellent 8-2 win against Station Helmshore. The Anchor finally got their season started but went down 4-1 to newly-promoted Crown Paints.
The Mill Hill Car Centre Division Three promises to be a very tight league this season with only Wellington yet to gain a point as they went down 4-2 to Whinney Hill Colts. Helmshore Harriers continue to lead the way despite drawing 0-0 with Rishton Rangers.
The two Brown Cow teams had good victories – Brown Cow Olympic with a 7-1 victory against Gastec Celtic, while Brown Cow edged out King Edward 4-3 in a real thriller.
And Golden Cup gained their first points of the season with an excellent 6-2 win away to Haslingden side Green Squirrel.
