DIVISION One newboys Ivy Hotel underlined their championships credentials after beating Rimington 4-3 on Saturday.
The Blackburn side, who won the Division Two titles last season in their first year in the East Lancashire League, have now won their opening three games to claim maximum nine points.
However it was their latest victory against a Rimington side who have won the Division One title for the last five years that will make their rivals sit up and take notice.
Ivy, who previously played in the Blackburn Combination, are one point ahead of the champions who have played two games more and have endured a sluggish start to their defence of the title. Burnley Athletic are also among the early season pace setters as their 2-0 victory against Feniscowles and Pleasington took their second place with Rimington on eight points.
In the Second Division, Prairie United and Burnley Belvedere have already opened up a bit of a gap after just five games.
Unbeaten Prairie top the table with 13 points after winning 4-0 at a Peel Park side yet to register a win.
Belvedere, a point behind and also unbeaten, won by the same scoreline against Borrowdale United.
Whinney Hill, who have played two games fewer than the leaders are six points behind after they were held to a 2-2 draw against Pendle Forest.
