BLACKBURN loanee Todd Kane could make a permanent switch to Ewood Park as he prepares to wear the Three Lions on his chest against Scotland tonight.

The 19-year-old right-back has linked up with Rovers on a season-long deal and gets his chance on the international stage when England Under-21s lock horns with the Auld Enemy.

Kane, who has started both league games against Derby and Nottingham Forest, said: “I certainly wouldn’t rule out joining Blackburn, it is a fantastic club.

“There were talks last year, but Chelsea wanted me to stay at Stamford Bridge and I signed a new contract that keeps me there until 2016.

“I really like Blackburn, I’m pleased to come back and I’m very grateful they wanted me back.

“I’d consider it if Blackburn came in for me, but right now I’m a Chelsea player and my main priority is to try and establish myself at Stamford Bridge before I think about anything else.

“Blackburn have given me a fantastic opportunity, though, and who knows what might happen in the future.

“I’m very settled and Gary Bowyer has created a great spirit, there’s a real feeling of optimism about the place.”

Kane, who is yet to feature at senior level for Chelsea, will be desperate to impress if he gets the nod from former Blackburn boss Hodgson at Bramall Lane with England tonight.

“With Roy Hodgson taking charge, then hopefully I can make a good impression and just play the way I can if I get a start,” added Kane.

“It is a great honour to be called up by your country, and a very proud achievement on a personal level.”

I’ve played at Under-19 level, but this is my biggest honour.”

“Gary Bowyer has played a huge part, giving me the opportunity to play in the Championship and my game has developed a lot.

“Hopefully I can kick on this season like I did last term, and help Blackburn to try and win promotion.”

Rovers are still searching for their first Championship win after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest – and they return to league action on Friday when they make their first ever league visit to Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium.

“It was a cruel way to lose against Forest, we deserved more than that,” added Kane.

“We had a good game plan, but it didn’t go our way and you could see from pretty early on that it was going to be one of those days, when there would not be many goals.

“It is going to take time to adapt, we are still forging an understanding together with the new players and for everything to click, but when it does I think we are going to do well.

“There is a lot of energy in our game, we are trying to get the ball down and play in the right way.

“Hopefully,we can do well this season and make a decent challenge.”
