Pedersen can leave Blackburn Rovers for free
MORTEN Gamst Pedersen has started his search for a new club after being told he can leave Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer.
Pedersen remains a Rovers player for now, following the conclusion of talks with the club about his future.
But he was not involved in last night’s League Cup loss at Carlisle United and has been given permission to depart for free if he finds a new club before the transfer window closes on September 2.
Pedersen has been with Rovers since 2004 but wants regular football and has fallen down the pecking order at Ewood Park.
The club are also keen to reduce their wage bill to fall in line with the Football League’s financial fair play regulations.
Pedersen does not have a move lined up at this stage but there is understood to have been tentative interest from the Premier League and from Europe.
Former Rovers managers Mark Hughes and Sam Allardyce are now managing in the Premier League for Stoke and West Ham respectively, although it is not clear yet whether either will make a move.
