VAUXHALL Inn became the first club from outside the Premier Division to win the Blackburn Combination Sports Council Cup after a five goal-thriller 3-2 victory against Feildens.

A goal in the dying seconds by Kai Holden saw the Division One side write their name in to the history books.

It was Feildens who bossed the early exchanges and Stuart Durnan and Jordan Khan both went close before Vauxhall stunned their top division opponents to take the lead – Ben Carolan pouncing on a defensive mix-up to fire home.

Feildens responded and Durnan had a shot well saved by Paul Collinge before he levelled matters, racing on to long clearance to thump the ball home.

Durnan was causing the Vauxhall defence problems and after bursting into the box went down under pressure from two defenders but referee Carl Dearden waved play on as Vauxhall players protested.

At the other end, Feildens keeper Tom Holding was forced to tip over a screamer from Jamie McKay.

It was end to end stuff and Feildens took the lead for the first time when Khan chipped in a free kick from the edge of the area.

But the first half scoring wasn’t quite over and Vauxhall equalised soon after when a shot from Nathan Oxendale was fumbled by Holding and first to react was Liam Hoyle who finished clinically.

Vauxhall started the second half brightly and a free kick by Adam Grogan caused a panic in the Feildens goalmouth but the ball was put out for a corner.

Feildens first effort of the half came from a long ball that Tommy Doyle reacted to first and his quick shot was well saved and Durnan fired the rebound over the bar.

Vauxhall began to get the upper hand and McKay and Carolan both went close before Hoyle had a great chance to take the lead when he robbed a defender but fired over when well placed.

At the other end, Khan had another chance from a free kick but this time the wall did its job and blocked the shot.

But with time ticking away, Vauxhall deservedly took the lead in the dying minutes.

A mighty scramble in the Feildens goalmouth following a corner saw Holden forced the ball home to seal a dramatic late victory for Vauxhall Inn.
