HENNING Berg’s compensation claim hearing against Blackburn Rovers is due to take place in Manchester today.
Berg was sacked as Rovers manager in December and has been pursuing a claim of around £2m.
A summary judgement was originally due in the High Court on March 28 over an alleged breach of contract but that hearing was delayed.
Venky’s have been looking closely at the contract that was drawn up for Berg. Operations director Paul Agnew said last week that there may have been a ‘misunderstanding’ or an ‘error’ at the club over the contract, adding that Rovers’ solicitors were assessing the matter.
Rovers released a statement last week confirming they have already paid the Norwegian a ‘£500,000 instalment’ and were in talks to agree a settlement.
The case was scheduled to be heard at the Manchester Civil Justice Centre at 10.30am today.
Berg was sacked after only 57 days in charge of Rovers – the shortest reign for any permanent manager in the club’s history.
The League Managers’ Association lodged papers with the High Court on Berg’s behalf in February.
