MINI marvel Jacob Greenwood-Smith has been snapped up by Manchester City’s junior academy.

The seven-year-old, who attends Moorland School at Clitheroe, said: “I like to pass and score goals like my favourite player Carlos Tevez.

“I love football and coming to Moorland has really helped me get better and I’ve made a lot of new friends.”

Moorland have forged a reputation for nurturing young talent, with Manchester United striker John Cofie joining Burnley before his switch to Old Trafford in 2007.

The school also boasts Niall Mason, who played for Blackburn Rovers’ Junior Academy, after enjoying three years with Real Madrid’s famous soccer school, as well as Alex Curran, rated as another youngster with a bright future.

Moorland football coach Charlie Jackson said: “We are very proud of Jacob and for him to be recognised at such an early age for his football skills is very special indeed.”
