Blackburn Rovers handed potential Wigan tie in semi finals

BLACKBURN Rovers will take on Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup semi finals if they can overcome Millwall in Wednesday’s quarter final replay at Ewood Park.

Rovers or Millwall have been drawn against Wigan, with Manchester United or Chelsea facing Manchester City.

Ties will take place at Wembley on the weekend of April 13 and 14.

I still don't rate our chances in the replay, unless we make considerable change to the line-up and shape. Too much 'in the air' stuff and not enough passing and moving. The extra man Millwall had in midfield really made it difficult for us to get King or Bentley involved. They always had two men around our wingers whenever we tried to play with width.

If Appleton can address that properly we can topple Millwall with ease. We were poor today and still looked in with a chance of nicking it. Perhaps bringing Best back a touch into a 4-4-1-1, or maybe a 4-5-1, sitting behind Rhodes to give a helping hand in midfield. The 4-4-2 didn't work at all. They were outplaying us in midfield, that needs to be sorted.

Firstly, rovers aren't a better team than Arsenal or Wigan ....luck won the day at Arsenal any other day this team would have got hammered....think most of us realise that....Wigan in the semi, well we've got to beat Millwall first (something we didn't do in the league match) the only way we'd beat Wigan is for the same amount of luck as the Arsenal game.......

This must be the worst Rovers team I can remember in the last 30 years ( even old don mckays team were far better) a maximum of 4 players on yesterday's showing are remotely good enough the others should be shown the door....I can honestly say I've not seen a worse team in the championship...I'm really worried that the 6 pts gap from safety won't be enough....this team doesn't look capable of winning games....more worrying this is the best time for Burnley to be playing us.....if you're Appy with the diabolical team performances recently then more fool you;-)

Lets be honest we are not playing good football at all.I dont know if this is a legacy of Kean's disastous tenure or maybe Appleton the draw specialist restricts them in his way but it is poor fare for the spectators. The strange thing is we had Pederson,Bentley ,Dunn .Rhodes,Best in the side all could ply their trade at Prem level so why can we not construct good passing attacks? The fact is if we scrape through against Millwall we will have to have another display a la Arsenal to defeat Wigan as they are a good passing side.I just know miracles dont happen twice so does everyone want to go to Wembley to get beat or would it not be preferable to have a team that had a realistic chance of beating Wigan. I would swop this cup run for a chance of getting into the play offs which is a dream that would have been realised if Kean had been moved on earlier.

Rovers return: Danny Murphy to quit Blackburn for Fulham backroom job
10 Mar 2013 22:30
The veteran midfielder quit Craven Cottage last summer to join Championship side but is in talks to cancel the deal now
Fulham are ready to make a surprise move to bring Danny Murphy back to the club – and give him a job behind the scenes.
Veteran midfielder Murphy quit Craven Cottage at the end of last season to join Blackburn on a lucrative contract, but now he could head back to his 'home'.

Murphy is in talks to cancel his deal at Blackburn after being stripped of the captaincy and left out of the first-team training group ahead of an early exit.
And Fulham have lined up a post for him, with some coaching duties and promotional work for the London club - who have been trying to tempt him back recently.
Murphy, who has been taking his coaching badges, has just moved into a new house in the capital and would prefer to return after an unhappy spell in Lancashire.

Pretty much my thoughts, we weren't good yest against a poor Millwall. Our biggest chance was yesterday, but if the fans turn up and get behind the team, then we can win the replay. That would raise spirits and put us all in the right frame of mind for Sunday. Weds is a pivotal point , go out the cup and we could loose our 34 year record against that lot & end up in a relegation battle or win it, beat that shower of 5hit, have a wembley semi to look forward to & finish the season on a high. Any dream of playoffs went weeks ago but we can play for pride and finish as high as poss.
Shows what just over 2 years of bad ownership has caused though. We're worried about a replay v Millwall, a league game against dingles and a semi against Wigan. Jesus Christ , these would have been mouthwatering and all very winnable games before this bunch of clowns got involved.
But let's stay positive , Millwall and dingles 1st , then a day out and a bit of luck at wembley and you never know

Come on rovers best draw we couldve hoped for. Every chance of getting to the final
Really? I must be watching a different team to you. Even if we beat Millwall, Wigan are a grand canyon away from us. Better players, better manager. They battered Everton with excellent football. Funny what the FA Cup dream does to football fans
And so where Arsenal, who knows what can happen COYB!!!!
