Golfer Taylor misses cut in China
9:50am Saturday 9th March 2013 in Sport
A POOR second round cost East Lancashire golfer Emily Taylor a place in the final day of the World Ladies Golf Championships in China.
Taylor had been firmly in contention after a fine one-under par 71 which left her just four shots of the lead following the opening round.
But on day two Taylor struggled to recapture that form and eventually posted a four over par 76 to leave her three over for the two days, two shots shy of the cut mark.
It had all begun so well for Taylor who impressed on the opening day as she bidded to make back-to-back cuts in what is just her third professional tournament.
But, after the second round was delayed by just under two hours due to fog at the Mission Hills course, Taylor bogeyed the opening hole and double bogeyed the second in a slow start.
She dropped a further two shots on the front nine to leave her struggling to extend her stay in the tournament.
Despite picking up shots on 11 and 16, a bogey on 14 meant she finished with a 76 and exited the tournament.
Taylor is back in action later this month at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco. The tournament runs from March 28-March 31.
