Setback for Rovers striker Best
2:28pm Thursday 28th February 2013 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
BLACKBURN Rovers will make a late fitness call on striker Leon Best ahead of this weekend's clash with Peterborough after the forward suffered a setback in his comeback from injury.
Best, who has not featured for Rovers all season since injuring his knee in the summer, has made two appearances for the Ewood development squad and it was hoped that he would be able to feature in the 18-man squad on Saturday.
But Rovers boss Michael Appleton confirmed the former Newcastle United man had suffered a reaction to the injury in training this week and that he will be assessed prior to the game.
Appleton is already without a number of first-team players with Lee Williamson, Paul Robinson, Colin Kazim-Richards, Martin Olsson and Dickson Etuhu all unavailable for Saturday.

The only ones who are missed are Best & Ollson. The rest arnt good enough for the squad anyway, just another excuse for Appleton to loose games and play negative football.

French Rover says...
Blackburn defender Gael Givet has cuttingly claimed life in the Lancashire town is so miserable he would have hung himself were it not for the support of his family.
The Frenchman has been warming the bench since manager Michael Appleton became Rovers’ third permanent boss this season in January.
And he admitted life in Blackburn had already begun to get him down when Rovers were relegated from the Premier League last season.
He said: ‘I was depressed – luckily, I have my wife and two kids.’
In what is believed to be a tongue-in-cheek remark, the 31-year-old added: ‘If left alone in Blackburn, I’d have already hanged myself.’
Former Marseille and Moncao player Givet fully expects his time at Ewood Park is coming to an end. ‘I’m done for here,’ he added. ‘I’ve only played one match plus nine minutes in four months.‘There have been approaches but the club has been asking three or four million euros for me.’
He is depressed? On his money? How does he think the fans feel after the last couple of seasons..? French Warrior - Nay not any more - get gone GG you French surrender monkey!

Venkys wanted an inexperienced manager so they got what they paid for. Appleton can only do his best, like we all try top do in life.

we really need players that can run at defences and make them panic and force them to double up, freeing up space and bring other rovers players into play, making their jobs alot easier..besides dunn and rochina i cant think of any rovers player whose trying to do that, no wonder we are so easy to stop now

Best, DJ Campbell are of the same type, flashy beginnings everywhere, then idling about, grateful for another pay day.
Presumably, Givet is on an appearance bonus so it's cheaper to keep him out.
As I say occasionally on here, if you measure Rovers by football it makes no sense. If you measure it by finance, a cheapskate Indian outfit that has realised the game is up, then it makes a lot of sense.

Let's face it. Not a lot going to happen this season (maybe a trip to Wembley) so lets get behind the guy and give him some time.

if anyone out on this planet ever thinks MA is a manager of any repute...!
he is not experienced
he has no prior skills, qualities that will cut him in management.
However, MA is experienced at one thing, and thats the reason hes here.
He is just about able to beg for trashy players who are unwanted at their clubs
And thats what players BRFC can just about pull....!!!!
But at the end of the day he MA is the current manager
and he has a job on his hands
Yes its difficult as its clear not many teams prepared to let good players out on loan......
hence hes left to bring in below average 2nd rate team players
Play offs is going to be extremely difficult
Best will play very little all season if at all as its likely his injury will prevent him.
