CLITHEROE Royal Grammar School and Accrington Academy girls football teams have qualified for the Lancashire School Winter Games.

CRGS will represent the Ribble Valley with the Academy flying the flag for Hyndburn in next month’s county finals in Blackpool. The Hyndburn and Ribble Valley event was held at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and the hosts took full advantage to finish in first place.

Accrington Academy were runners-up but top Hyndburn school with St Augustine’s in third place. Other schools to take part were Mount Carmel, Moorland, Ribblesdale and St Christophers.

Meanwhile, Unity College beat Blessed Trinity for the right to represent Burnley.

The SPAR Lancashire School Games is organised by Lancashire Sport Partnership’s Lancashire Organising Committee (LOC) and sponsored by James Hall & Company Ltd, the SPAR distributors for the North of England.

The games take on a different format in 2013 with the Winter Games taking place on March 19, the Swim Gala on May 15 and the Summer Games on July 2.
