FULL TIME: Arsenal 0 Blackburn Rovers 1

COLIN Kazim-Richards fired Blackburn Rovers into the quarter finals of the FA Cup as they stunned Premier League Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Turkish international scored the only goal of the game on 73 minutes to reward a heroic away day display from his side.

Arsenal dominated possession in the opening half without being able to create too many clear cut chances against Rovers' resolute defence.

Goalkeeper Jake Kean was forced into action by Abou Diaby's header on 24, tipping it wide, while the midfielder also dragged a 20 yard shot wide of goal.

Kean did well to keep out Bradley Orr's misdirected header, scrambling across his goal to tip wide, while Gervinho should have scored at the end of the half but shot wide when through on goal.

Rovers started the second half as more of an attacking threat with Markus Olsson advancing down the left wing on a couple of occasions without being able to find the end product.

Diaby should have done better when he headed over the bar from a Tomas Rosicky corner on the hour mark as Arsenal struggled to break their visitors down.

With Rovers looking increasingly comfortable, Appleton introduced David Bentley to the action on 63 replacing Markus Olsson.

Tomas Rosicky almost gave the hosts the lead on 67, striking the bar from distance, before Grant Hanley brilliantly blocked Gervinho as he raced through on goal.

Arsene Wenger brought on Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla as the hosts grew more and more desperate.

Rovers stunned the hosts on 73 though as Martin Olsson's strike was parried by Wojciech Szczesny and Colin Kazim-Richards was on hand to finish the loose ball for the opener.

Arsenal pushed for an equaliser but, for all their possession, were still struggling to create anything of note as Rovers stood firm.

Jake Kean had the final say, diving to his left to keep out Theo Walcott's header in injury time.

Tremendous victory for the Rovers. Great defending and good team work all round. Yes, we were under the cosh for long spells but Rovers came through it with flying colours. Sarcons Vinegar (cockney rhyme ) has in the past been less than respectful towards Rovers, lets see if he eats humble pie and gives Rovers the credit they are due. Dare to dream - promotion and Wembley finalist!!!

Great result, great performance, I thought that wiliamson in midfield looked exactly what we had been missing. Kazim Richards played well as well. I liked his charlie austin thud and blunder boy finish, misskick into the ground and it goes in, brilliant. The defence looks miles better although right back seemed a bit scary at times. Did Bentley touch the ball? Who cares. I love the sight of Arsene Whinger doing his Basil Faulty on the touchline.
Well done boys.

Fantastic win. Defended very well indeed. Very solid. Watched it on a live stream and it was all Arsenal but Rovers really did defend very well. French Rover this is what I was referring to earlier today. It may sound like a nightmare from the New York City subway to some, but in India's small northwestern city of Deshnoke, this is a place of worship: Rajastan's famous Karni Mata Temple.

Nothing more needs to be said....Well done to all the team. Even Goodwillie didn't give a penalty away.

Freedom of Blackburn for MA at this rate. Venky's will be planning their trip to Wembley. No reason why not. Think positive.
New boys played well, although DB didn't touch the ball too often. Orr still a bit iffy but that's being pedantic. He settled down as the game wore on.
Kean was awesome!.

Brilliant result. Well done Rovers, and well done to Michael Appleton. I didn't think he was the man for the job, but he's been superb from day one. His honesty and straight forwardness, has been a breath of fresh air, after the lies and bullsh*t of that **** Kean. I also don't think hell stand for any interference from above either.

I think Michael Appleton and BRFC are the perfect match at this moment in time. Long may it continue.

another deserved a clean sheet pleased for rovers back 4, remained decisive in clearing the danger, despite arsenal possesion for large portions of the game... kept rovers in the game,,for CKR to pop the goal in,

with the extra confidence from this game our attacking part of the team will see improvements, keep the ball longer to give the strikers more touches of the ball,

plus a renewed support can really fire rovers up the championship table.

Ever since Kean took over as Rovers manager we forgot how to defend, until now under MA. Fantastic result today against a team of top internationals who couldn't break us down and that is the difference between Rovers under Appleton. My thoughts do go out to Glenborian and his dingle chums who must have thought we were going to get a real hiding and spent all day anticipating what trash they could put on here. Oh well, curfew kicked in and they've got nothing to do, maybe they could make the effort like one earlier post to congratulate us in a win over a premier league side and one from down south, more chance of getting something positive and jolly out of dangerous Dave

Well credit where credits due I'd like to say congratulations to BRFC for getting a great result today.

That is what the FA Cup is all about and In lot of peoples minds including mine a shock result.

I have to say too that I think you have a decent young manager now. Yes I am a Clarets supporter but born and bred in Pompey but obviously heard and saw alot about the guy.

I know normally I pop on here for the tit for tat banter but I am a football fan and like I said credit to BRFC , your In the hat for the next round and anything can happen as shown today.

Well done enjoy your night all of you.

Good man. There are loads of decent Clarets fans out there. I know lots of them. The banter is great but we do get some idiots on our threads on an almost daily basis who let themselves down frequently with their vile bitterness and hypocrisy. However, and thankfully, with our recent improvement and especially today's unbelievable result, they are predictably silent and absent and thankfully we are left with welcome comments from the decent fans among you of the so called 'enemy', like yourself...cheers...

What was it John Lennon and Brian Ferry sang about??? 34 years of inferiority. Hurts doesn't it Dingle. Thousands of BFC fans getting their Man U tops back out the drawer for nearly 3 years now, after jumping OFF the PREM bandwagon. Bitter, hypocritical and jealous for 34 years. The biggest difference to the defensive performances has been Danns continued improvements, and more notably Jake Keans replacement for Paul Robinson who in my opinion was somewhat over rated and never in the class of Brad Friedel. The good times appear to be coming back thanks to the appointment of MA.
