CO-boss Bernard Morley was delighted with his Rambottom United nap-happy men as they ramped up their Evo-Stik League First Division North promotion bid with a stunning 5-0 win at Garforth.

The Rams were rampant in Yorkshire as they eased into sixth-place in the table with games in hand on the majority of the sides above them.

But Morley and fellow joint manager Anthony Johnson want feet keeping firmly on the ground.

After low key displays from his players in recent weeks Morley was cheered by the nature of Saturday’s romp and said: “We went to Garforth wanting to prove a point after the disappointing win over Wakefield.

“It was good to bounce back from the Wakefield game. Football is more than about winning, it’s about displays we asked the lads for a reaction.

“You will always take a win, 1-0 or whatever, but it can be a little more than that.

“We wanted the players to go out and work hard and they did that and got the result they deserved.

“You never know what a side is going to do and how they have improved so we were delighted with the win.”

While the play-offs are a target, Morley says the Rams must kick on.

And he added: “We have got back up there and won four our of six games but when we go into March we have some big games coming up.

“We have not done too well against the top six this year and we need to improve that.

“You have to compete every game and try to improve.

“It’s a myth to say we got promoted and we should finish mid-table, we need to finish as high as we can.

“We would love to win all our remaining games but we will have to see how that goes and where it takes us.”

Meanwhile, Glodi Kuba-Kuba must be wondering what he has to do to get on the scoresheet for the first time after being denied a clear-cut goal during the win.

Kuba-Kuba thought he had got himself on the scorer’s list when he rose well to head home a corner.

But the assistant referee thought differently – despite most people in the ground believing the ball had actually crossed the line.
