Burke can’t inspire victory

Steven Burke couldn’t inspire new team Rouleur to overall victory in cycling’s revolution series.
The Colne star had joined up with the team having left IG Sigma Sport.
And despite an impressive showing, the 24-year-old and his team-mate and fellow Olympic champion Andy Tennant couldn’t cut the gap to leaders Rapha Condor who hung on to take the title.
Burke did end the evening a winner though after he took first place in the scratch race, seeing off Tennant in second as Rouleur secured a one-two.
Burke finished fifth in the flying lap as Clancy took overall victory while he could only manage 19th in the points race.
The Rouleur pair then came close to claiming victory in the madison time trail but eventually ended third.
Rouleur finished the day in fourth place on the night, enough to finish third overall.
