Robinson set to leave Ewood

BLACKBURN Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson is in talks over a free transfer move to West Ham with the Hammers’ 24-year-old stopper Stephen Henderson lined up to come to Ewood Park as part of the deal.
The 33-year-old former England stopper has been told by Rovers boss Michael Appleton that Jake Kean will continue as his number one, leaving Robinson looking for an exit.
Henderson, who played under Appleton during a spell at Portsmouth in 2011/12, is expected to come the other way to provide goalkeepers Kean, Sebastian Usai and Greg Sandomierski with further competition.
Rovers yesterday confirmed the permanent signing of 18-year-old striker Anton Forrester from Everton and will hope to secure at least two more signings before the close of the transfer window tonight.
Free agent and former Sheffield United and Portsmouth midfielder Lee Williamson is understood to still be on Appleton’s radar with a right winger also a priority to cover for Josh King’s injury absence. Montenegrin international Simon Vukcevic was in talks with Cyprus club APOEL Nicosia and is expected to tie up a loan switch away from Ewood until the end of the season.
Benfica’s move for midfielder Diogo Rosado has hit a stumbling block, but striker David Goodwillie is a potential exit ahead of the 11pm close of the window with a number of clubs interested.
Rovers are expecting to keep hold of in demand left back Martin Olsson, after Sam Allardyce admitted the club’s asking price was too much for West Ham.
It is understood the Hammers have had two bids rejected for the Swede, one believed to be in the region of £4million, and insist they are not likely to come back again.
Allardyce said: “I think it is based on how desperate they think we are. Everybody talks about an inflated window and I think that is the case until the last two days. Martin Olsson was of interest to me and I couldn't see anyone else going for him.
“If there were other clubs going for him too I could understand the valuation but there isn’t anybody. I’m not saying they won’t get that price, they might in the next couple of days, but we went and made our offer and then decided to move into another area.”
Rovers’ newest recruit Forrester has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal after impressing during a recent trial at the East Lancashire club.
The 18-year-old was in the last year of his Everton contract, having come through the youth ranks at Goodison Park.
Meanwhile, Rovers have terminated the contract of Amine Linganzi by mutual consent.
The 23-year-old made only four appearances for the first team after joining from Saint Etienne in 2010.

Is that another number 10 to add to the 10 or 12 MA stated we already had(Why not keep Goodwille and try a 2 man forward line).
Surely we need competion for places to improve our game in midfield and in defence. As hardly any clean sheets ,no delivery to forwards and aging midfielders struggling to get back and support and underconfident centre backs .
Just a thought looking at most of our games this seasons.I am trying to be postive as i believe MA can do a lot better job than his predecessor`s.
Hope we manage to sign CKR as he can play right side and centre - so cover for King. Think we need a centre mid and centre back. Would love to see Kane stay, he's quality. But will hve Henley and Orr at RB.
Great getting rid of some of the deadweight/excesive squad to try and galvanise things.
Actually looking forward to saturdayfor change.

Vukcevic and Rosado out, one free agent ex-league 2 midfielder in.
Doesn't sound astute to me.

However, I'd assume that he was on big wages and with Jake doing well, I can see the sense.
Robbo will be excellent behind a well-organised Wet Spam defence, again under the tutelage of Big Sam.

Robbo is a big loss and a very good goalkeeper.

LittleRonnieHilderslWe already have CKR that no addition and he is one of those No10 he wants to play as the front man not out wide we need a proper right sided midfielder you will get up and down the wing put crosses in to the likes of CKR and Rhodes plus get back and double up as support for the right back when we are under pressure

Im not sure how Michael Appleton has been able to make a decision after such a short time, that Kean is better than Robinson. Robinson hasn't played a first team game for ages and certainly not while Appleton's been here. Could it be more a case that he's been told Robinson hasn't to feature and to offload his wages?
