Forrester signs for Blackburn Rovers from Everton

Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of young striker Anton Forrester.

The 18-year-old has signed from Everton on a free transfer, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal through to June 2015.

The Liverpool-born forward joined Everton at the age of nine and progressed through the junior ranks at Goodison Park.

Forrester linked up with Rovers at the turn of the year and after impressing on trial, put pen-to-paper on a permanent deal.

I love it when the first we hear of a signing is when the deal has been completed. Just how it should be! Welcome to the Rovers Anton, here's hoping you're as succesful here as the last striker we got from Everton.

Welcome Anton. Hope you are a success. However, please Venkys and Appy I presume this player will be in th reserves for a while and therefore cannot be classed as one of the 3 players MA has targeted? If so, it is a joke! We need a RW and DC asap!

Trying not to be negative today but can't help thinking we have a few more pressing issues than cover for Jordan Slew.

good luck to the lad but how does buying another young striker we won't use help improve our squad or reduce our wage bill ?.

Good luck Anton - an untried 18 year old; might sign a laddie whose not going to make it at Hammers in return for Robbo, "I might run if I feel like it" Kazim will be "signed" for the rest of the season, Orr "I'm right behind Kean" will re-sign - that makes the four signings Apple was aiming for.
Plus getting shut of earners, Rosado, Robbo, Vuxie - you get the picture ?
Venkys are selling up.

18 Year old striker, released by Everton. This lad is certainly one for the future, a future that will never come. We need signings in other areas, and senior players, not little boys. Thanks.

At least Appleton is not lying, he promised 3 to 4 signings and they appear to have materialised.

At this stage it certainly appears that the priority is to reduce the wage bill by selling experience and bringing in young uns.
Asset stripping or not?
The next 30 hours could be very revealing in the scheme of things to come.

I see the lunatics have escaped from the asylum again, the simple thing is we are we are not in the PL anymore, we are not going to attract players of the calibre some muppets appear to think we are going to.

Simple answer is we don't know if he is going to be any good, but we don't know if any signing will be any good, or fit in.

Give the lad a chance.

Still surprised at how many "fans" are still being optimistic. All we are hearing about are players leaving - rosado, vuk, Robbo etc... What have we bought in? A free 18 year old striker for the one and only position we are not short of quality. Yes, deadwood needed clearing out & more IS needed, but so are SIGNINGS! I want to be optimistic like some of you, but we have now had many transfer windows under venkys and ALL have seen players leave for bigger values than the ones coming in - and don't get me started on quality.
I give the venkys 24 hours and we'll see!! The squad we have now will not get near the play-offs.

Usual sad attempts to drum up some negative vibes I see on here and other threads today
I mean really, how is it that anyone we buy is cr~p until we sell them again and suddenly they were the best we had but never given a chance...bit transparent innit?
For goodness sake there are people on here bemoaning the loss of Diogo Rosado who have never seen him play! those of us that go to Ewood have only seen him a couple of times, he is not up to the English game , ditto for Formica, the rest of the Portuguese squad bar Gomes and Nunes and not forgetting Vukcevic
Appleton is rebuilding the squad as best he can and as he sees fit,and it is too much for the Negative agenda boy(s)

I do slightly agree with him, but we did that before Venky's too -
Santa Cruz £17m, Bentley £15m, Duff £15m, Bellamy £8m etc.
We have 24 hours to add a little bit of competition for first team places. We can still get somewhere this season.
3 years ago Allardyce tried to sign Robert Lewandowski for £6m from Lech Poznan, the Walkers Trust refused to give him the money. Venky's bought Rhodes for £8m. Shame how Venky's have otherwise been poor owners.

Thx - I am a rovers fan, just prefer to read other people's posts. Thx for the agreement Will P. We did sell when we were under the walker trust, but we did always reinvest. Truth was, we always knew the trust (with Williams) had the best interests of the club at heart & we were never really in danger of relegation. Under venkys we were always relegation fodder and they achieved that in their 1st full season! Dingle - my ****!

For such successful business people, the Venky's have flopped at this venture. I think it's obvious that the Venky's weren't here for the football. They bought the club because of the rise of football in India therefore giving them more prestige within India and more importantly, they could bring their main business into the west. Just look at how they had already used the players to advertise their food within a few weeks of taking over.

They sacked the footballing brains at the club, Williams had a brighter future ahead and left at the right time. He wouldn't of wanted to be tarnished.

Whatever though, nothing I can do about it. Hopefully a couple of good additions tomorrow, happy some of the deadwood is being cleared.

We're looking up now, not down.

Who will get Number 10 in blackburn club after formica left, we need a hero in this T-Shirt. Anton seems good, but he have to prove in the pitch like Ince and Zaha did week in week out.

All the best Anton......get more playtime from MP.

I agree nick.. The thing that quite a lot of people come on here to moan about is who should be played where and how bad a decision buying player x/y/z was... What they fail to understand is that the people signing these players will have scouted them in some way and feel they will fit in the squad! So your right, will he fit? Who knows!? Would another more senior player fit?! How would we know? We just have to see them play and then we will find out!

Come on people, stop being so ruddy pessimistic!

Who let this striker go?

Blackman, 23, the Blades’ top-scorer with 14 goals this term, has signed a three-year-deal with the Royals, who have beaten off rival interest from Crystal Palace to sign the Bury-born player, who only joined the club in the summer from Blackburn Rovers.

Blades chief Danny Wilson admits he was powerless to stop Blackman, who has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at the Madejski Stadium, from moving to the top flight, with the hefty fee – thought to be in the region of £1.2m – representing a massive profit on a a player who only arrived in August.
