BURNLEY conceded their first league goal of 2013 to trail Birmingham City at the break.
The Clarets made a bright start and Danny Ings went close with a trio of headers.
The first was fashioned by Ross Wallace's excellent turn and cross, which Ings nodded narrowly wide of the right hand post.
The pair then combined twice more, but Ings could not direct either header on target.
Curtis Davies proved the head master as he thumped in Ross Hall's inswinging corner to give Birmingham a 21st minute lead.
It is the eighth time the Blues have gone ahead in the last nine games.
Chris McCann came the closest to an equaliser with an effort from just inside the box that Jack Butland saved.
