Non-league: Clubs keep an eye on the weather

NON-league teams are keeping yet another eye on the weather as they hope to make a return to action after a number of postponements.

More than a week of sub-zero temperatures has made life nigh on impossible for the area’s teams.

But Ramsbottom United management duo Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley are taking the positives out of the enforced break – and believe their players can come back refreshed.

The Rams are sat in mid-table in their first Evo-Stik League First Division North campaign and Johnson wants to see them finish the season with a flourish.

“The weather is a pain because we want to play,” said Johnson.

“But we are treating it as a chance for the players to have a rest, especially as we are exactly halfway through the season.”

If the weather breaks in time, the Rams are set to face Burscough at The Riverside, while Clitheroe will travel to Radcliffe Borough with boss Paul Moore determined to see his men recapture the form that put them in the play-off picture.

Chorley welcome Eastwood Town to Victory Park in the Premier Division and the Magpies are hopeful of the game going ahead.

In the North West Counties League Premier Division Bacup Borough are due to head to Stone Dominoes. Colne head to AFC Liverpool and Padiham travel to Bootle. New Barnoldswick Town management duo Kevin Richardson and Paul Fildes take their bow when Congleton Town visit the Silentnight Stadium, while in the First Division Darwen head to Altcar to face Formby and Nelson are due at Abbey Hey.

Nelson will face Clitheroe in a friendly on the 3G pitch at Accrington and Rossendale College if their league games are called off.
