Burnley Bobcats took a team of 17 swimmers to the Ponds Forge National Pool at Sheffield for The City of Derby 2013.

And it was a weekend for the Minozzi family to celebrate with Erica, 14, and 10-year-old brother Alex both winning gold medals.

Erica won gold in the 200m freestyle and reached the final of the 100m freestyle before finishing the competition ranked fifth place in her age category after swimming eight events. Alex won gold in the 100m freestyle and was ranked 10th in his age category after competing in five events.

Katie Rennolds, 14, took bronze in the 200m freestyle and swam the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle events followed by the 50m and 200m butterfly events. Ellie Taylor ,12, reached the 200m Individual Medley final and was ranked seventh place in her age category after swimming eight events. The boys were not to be outdone and William Beavan, 14, reached the final of the 100m freestyle and was ranked in eight place in his age category after seven events. Elliot Norman, 11, swam six events including the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events and was ranked in 4th place, while 12-year-old Robert Bryce after his five events was ranked in 9th place.

Other swimmers taking part in many events over the weekend were Tom Hamer, Dean Moorhouse, William Murray, Ben Nutter, Luke Pickles, Harry Pilkington, Emma Fothergill, Kerry Holding, Ella Sheridan and Grace Pickles, who all had great swims and put in excellent performances in all their events. At the end of the meet Burnley Bobcats finished in 23rd place out of the 55 clubs attending, with six of their swimmers being ranked in the top 10, based on FINA points, in their respective age categories.
