Kristan Bromley finished in a disappointing 10th place in the seventh round of the World Cup in Igls.
The race also doubled as the European Championships and Bromley, a former winner, had to settle for eighth place.
The 40-year-old from Waterfoot clocked a combined time of 1min 47.63secs more than two and half seconds slower than they eventual winner Martins Dukars.
With one round remaining, Bromley is sixth in the overall rankings.
He said: “Another tough race over. 10th place in Igls is alright given my physical recovery strategy.”
Bromley, the only man to win the World Championship, World Cup and European Championhip in the same season, also took part in the team event which combined the skeleton and bobsleigh.
And the GB finished in fifth place.
Bromley added: “A fun team race. Always up for an opportunity to work on ideas in a race environment.”
