BURNLEY Tornados will be holding the second of their open try-out sessions at the Prairie Playing Fields on Sunday.

The club, which was only formed three years ago, is looking to build on its huge success of last season where it’s youth team finished in third place in the Britbowl National Finals in Sheffield.

The talented team also won the North West Division, the Northern Conference and were unbeaten on the end of season tour of Scotland.

The Tornados’ feats also earned them the Lancashire Telegraph Grass Roots Heroes junior team of the year award.

Following the success of the youth team, the club has formed a new senior team for the forthcoming season and anyone of the age of 18 is welcome to attend the try-out session which will run from 10am to 12noon.

The club is also running a flag team - similar to tag rugby - for 10 to 14-year-olds.

All those interested in attending should take along footwear suitable for training outdoors and appropriate clothing “All those who attend will get the chance to find out more about playing for the Tornados, meet some of the team and try some of the drills used in the game,” said Steve Tither, the club’s press officer.

“It doesn't matter whether you've played before or want to try out a new sport, we can teach you the basics or help you refine your existing skills.”
