A BIT UNFAIR?

It was utterly moronic and shows that, for some people their time in the spotlight has become more important than the good of the Club.

You suggest that we should give the new manager a game at least. Any new manager needs at least a full season, if he has had the benefit of his own pre-season preparations.

We are still suffering from poor pre-season preparation under Kean.

We fans have a huge role to play in getting behind the manager and the team for the rest of this season and beyond.

Action Group has done their job, Kean is gone. Get behind the team now. Appleton record is very similiar to what Hughes was before he came.

On Bentley Would love to see him at the Club he is only 28. I remember him and Dunn Together were awsome. Give Dunn a Coaching role.

I would take issue with two statements in this article:
1. We should give Appleton our full backing. Is this the same as the full backing we were obligated to give to Kean and to Berg? Both were unqualified for the role as is Appleton and it is wearing thin that we should be expected to do so again when common sense and the fans wishes in these managerial appointments is consistently ignored three times on the trot.
2. It is not Appleton's fault he has been given the job. This is rubbish. Of course it is his fault. No one forced him to allow himself to be considered for the job and no one forced him to accept the appointment. When you accept an appointment you have an obligation to be confident that you have the credentials to be able to do the job properly. To act otherwise is dishonest and Appleton does not have the credentials for the job. No doubt the large increase in pay, which he reputedly accepted, was persuasive in his thinking. So Appleton will be under the spotlight from the word go and will get no allowance when he mucks it up as he is in the balance of probabilities most likely to do.

If the newspaper cannot read press releases then its a poor do.
More importantly people should not be able to write things which are not true through a newspaper platform to suit an agenda.

You're quite right, you didn't threaten to protest. You did, however, threaten to 'step up your campaign' against the owners, starting with ceasing all communications with the directors. Are we to assume that you've done this already? If so, when does 'phase 2' of 'give ALL fans a bad name because our time in the spotlight is coming to an end' start?

Hughes had never managed at club level before he came to Rovers so it's not possible to compare the two. I agree that everyone needs to get behind Appleton though.

We stated that the owners continuation to ignore supporter concerns, despite on-going communication with them would see the group step up their campaign. We made it clear in the press release that the stepping up of the campaign was for us to bring supporter groups together for a meeting, whilst pressing the authorities regarding the information we passed to them last year and further information which has come to light since regarding the clubs administration. We never once stated we would organise any sort of protest. We are a supporters group, not a protest group and since becoming a legal entity have chosen to go down the route of communicating issues around a table with those accountable.

The BRFC Action Group would like to respond to a Blog which has appeared in today’s edition of the Lancashire Telegraph written by Dan Clough.

In this blog Dan Clough states “I thought it was a bit unfair of the Action Group to threaten protest action over the appointment. Let’s at least give him a game eh?”

The group has today written to the Lancashire Telegraph and to Dan Clough asking for this statement to not only be removed but an apology made forthwith for the comments.

Never at one point over the last 8 months has the BRFC Action Group stated it intends to protest. The group last week issued a statement regarding the owner’s stance to continue to ignore the supporters of our proud club. The group made it clear that despite months of communication the owners still refuse to listen and attendances are now at a 20 year low.

The group pointed out its dismay of the continued Boardroom politics which is handicapping the clubs ability to achieve promotion this season.

The Lancashire Telegraph received this full press release, however despite this they have chosen to allow an employee to let a Blog go to print with a statement which is not only complete fabrication, but is a seed which could cause an even bigger divide in the clubs supporter base than the one which already existed.

Dan is completely right to say protest in his statement. Your request for an apology because of the use of 1 word is very child-like to say the least and i suggest you do Rovers fans a favour and stop trying to speak for all fans of the club on our behalf because believe it or not the majority of supporters aren't members of BRAG!

on point 1 - when does a manager become experienced in your book, if Appleton's eyar at Portsmouth doesn't count. or Bergs time in management in Norway. getting hung up on experience is a bit of a red herring in my book. if we do that, then what about presenting as evidence all those 'experienced' manages who get the sack in a year? experience is useful, but not much more.
2 - i assume the point being made by Dan is that, if presented with a similar opportunity, most managers would take it. therefore criticising him for joining the club is a little harsh.

on both your points, its a little premature to be treating Appleton as the enemy. what if he does well? at what point will you change from being a detractor to being a supporter?

I still think a "dirty blanket" sit in protest would have had a greater effect!

BRAG threatened to sever communication with the club. Like it or not Mr Mullan this is a form of protest. You're doing more harm than good and it's time for BRAG to end.

I'll add to that. that we are STILL waiting to see this dodgy dossier that Mr Mullen refers to "the information we passed to them last year and further information which has come to light since regarding the clubs administration", that they claim to have that even members of BRAG that I know, have yet to see.

If you have such damning evidence, why are you so loathe to put it into the public domain and gain the support of all your fellow fans, rather than the exclusive boys club you have created?

Any real rovers fan will back Appleton and though its true Bowyer did a good job you have to take into account fairly weak opposition in three of his matches and the fact that luck was on our side in two of the games also. Appleton needs time and Support!

Dear Old Fitz, 90% of what you have written is absolute drivel. You ask at what point would I change from being a detractor to being a supporter. Well, not now. The answer is at the same time as Appleton changed from a non entity to a manger with an established pattern of success behind him. I would be delighted to see that happen, but it is extremely unlikely. Still, it is possible to live in hope without living in expectation.
