Blackburn Rovers caretaker keeps focus on Wolves
1:19pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in Sport
BLACKBURN Rovers caretaker boss Gary Bowyer says he is continuing to prepare the team tomorrow’s trip to Wolves despite the club’s approach to speak to Michael Appleton.
Rovers approached Blackpool about Appleton last night but the Tangerines have refused permission to speak to the 37-year-old.
And Bowyer said at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference that both he and fellow coach Terry McPhillips are remaining focused on their roles in caretaker charge ahead of tomorrow night’s Championship fixture at Wolves.
“As far as we’re aware we will still be taking the team tomorrow night, nothing has changed as far as we’re concerned,” he said.
“I don’t think it’s right for me to talk about another team’s manager.
“We always know things can change in football but we will just carry on until told otherwise.
“I was informed they had made the approach last night but like I say it doesn’t change things.”

one would hope that once/if all this is eventually sorted out, bowyer and mcphilips remain at the club in at least as important capacity as they were previously.
it's been nothing but common sense and dignity from them so far, which is in stark contrast to some of the other senior figures.
I would much rather have bowyer in charge though.. and by the sounds and looks of the players so would they. appleton is not much older than Murphey (if at all)

Kean, Henning and now Appleton and he should have won more games with his squad at Blackpool. Rediculous with all this money and the future of the Club at stake. These are crazy times with crazy people in charge. Leave Bowyer alone and let him do a job for us. He will go somewhere else if we don't.

Who is responsible for what at the club
Last week you had Shebby Saying it was his sole resonsabilty to appoint the manager
This week you have Shaw approching Blackpool
Honestly , I would not trust them to man a turnstile on a Satuday afternoon

If the 'board' really want a new manager, why not continue the pursuit with Gus Poyet. He has more experience and I think he could continue where GB and TM have left off.

DISLOYAL and SELF SERVING - how could they imagine that a manager who had only been in his job several months would leave his new employer.
ARROGANT, WITHOUT SELF AWARENESS - can they not see that Blackburn is no better a club and, following their track record, almost certainly a less attractive club than Blackpool.
IGNORANT of FOOTBALL - because Appleton does not possess the background that is needed at Ewood Park
INSENSITIVE and UNCARING- insensitive as to the effect on the current temporary managers and oblivious to what fools they have made of themselves in the public eye for handling a straightforward process in the cack-handed way.
Venky's, Coar, The Global Adviser and the rest of them have made so many blundering errors repeated over a protracted period that I am now beginning to suspect that there is genuinely something wrong with them all mentally because otherwise it is just not possible to be so incompetent in everything mishandled over such a long time. They really need sectioning. Someone from the local health authority or it's equivalent in India need to come in and wheel them all off somewhere secure.

This approach to the Blackpool manager tells us a very great deal about type of people that make up the Blackburn Rovers directors:

A Rover 45 years and over wrote:" What is wrong with these people being obsessed with keep going for people with no track record."
These two should be left in place to see what they can do. A statement was made that they would be in charge until the end of the month. They have created something with not a very good squad in my opinion that hasn't been seen for a couple of years and should be left to continue. You cant keep flitting about like headless chickens with a board trying to compete and get one up on each other as their prime objective. What is wrong with these people being obsessed with keep going for people with no track record.

Why the hell would we want Appleton for manager anyway? His record is VERY POOR. All this nonsense has achieved, is to destabilise any momentum that has been built up on the playing side, since Berg was sacked. The players have obviously responded to GB, so why rock the boat? Leave things as they are, for now.
Also, why go for a manager that is in employment, and therefore end up having to pay compensation? especially one with such a poor managerial record to date? It doesn't make sense. Having said that, nothing over the last two years has made any sense, so we shouldn't be surprised at this madness.
There are better managers than MA out of work. Billy Davies for example. He's reputed to be the most successful Championship manager ever. Sean O'Driscoll has been recently sacked by Forest. A ridiculous decision. Have Forest been taken over by the new Venky's? O'Driscoll would be a MUCH better prospect than Appleton.
Win % of the aforementioned managers:
Billy Davies 40.57%
Sean O'Driscoll 36.29%
MICHAEL APPLETON 23.81%
He doesn't come up to scratch. This pending appointment has nothing to do with football. It is the result of a Boardroom power struggle, between Shaw, Agnew and Borat. Sickening, truly sickening!

I half fancied our chances of getting a positive result at the Wolves. I now think all this bullsh*t about Appleton, has put paid to our chances. If the rumours are correct, and Shaw is responsible for this ridiculous notion, then SHAME ON HIM.
