Training can blow away those Old habits
Burnley coach Simon Finnan is calling for ‘big numbers’ to turn up for training to get his side back to winning ways.
The player/coach says lack of fitness and team work cost Burnley dear as they lost to a side lower than them in North Lancs One.
Although Oldham opened the scoring with a penalty, Burnley took the lead through a Matt Calvert try.
Ill-discipline cost Burnley as they conceded kickable penalties which Oldham gladly accepted however tries from Ben Healy and Billy Ingham meant Burnley were very much in contention at the break – trailing by just three points, 18-15.
But that was the end of the scoring for Burn and and Finnan admitted his side’s defensive organisation needs serious work – which he said can only be achieved if all players attend training.
However, there were pluses for Burnley.
Ed Taylor had a strong game in the back row and the returning Mark Hanson played well at full back.
Danny Marshall came on at hooker while young Colts player, Kyle Snaith, had his best game so far on the wing in a Burnley first team top.
