Youngsters given Etihad stage

BURNLEY’S youngsters will get the chance to upset another Premier League giant on their own patch when they travel to Manchester City on Thursday night.

Terry Pashley’s side were originally due to take on the champions at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park ground in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

But City have now switched the tie to the 53,359-seat Etihad Stadium having deemed County’s pitch unfit to play on following Stockport’s hectic festive period.

And having already been to Old Trafford and knocked out Manchester United in the previous round, travelling to the home of the champions won’t hold any fears for the Clarets.

Burnley, who reached the semi-finals for the first time in 34 years last season before bowing out to Blackburn, stunned United to win 4-3 in extra time in December and will be looking to repeat the giant-killing against a City side who last won the competition in 2008 and knocked out Sunderland in round three.

The tie is a 7pm kick off and will be decided on the night meaning extra time and penalties are a possibility.

Admission prices have yet to be announced.
