Big Sam eyes Rovers' star

WEST Ham boss Sam Allardyce has admitted his interest in signing Blackburn Rovers full back Martin Olsson – should the Swede become available.

Allardyce, who worked with Olsson during his tenure at Ewood Park, is chasing a left back with Joey O’Brien and George McCartney both picking up injuries.

And he admits he would relish the opportunity to work with Olsson, who handed in a transfer request in the summer but has since played a large part in Rovers’ season.

“If they have made Martin available I would definitely be interested because I worked with the lad at Blackburn when I was there,” said Allardyce. “I had a good time developing him into what I consider to be quite a good player.

“But whether Blackburn are wanting to sell anybody I don’t know.”

Well, there's a surprise ! Big Sam putting his nose into our current very painful affairs. If Allardyce felt anything for this club and its genuine fans he would have kept his interest in Olsson to himself to, at best not gone public.

Yet another kicking us when we are down ....I know Venkys treated you very badly.....but we didn't. Thanks a million!

On the plus side ......Olsson is not a full back and I am sure there are better out there......but would they want to come to Shebbyland?

Well done Sam for ' unsettling ' Olsson. Can't see any difference doing it this way or tapping him up behind Rovers back.

So we'll be seeing you Martin Olsson.

An unsettling tactic and you can bet Olsson will be penning s transfer request to escape the Ewood circus. Noticed last night Kean and Venkys have settled with Sam out of court for a substantial sum. If Olsson does go let's try and get Warnock back.

If Sam wants to sign a player he will.

Its just business, why take it personally?

Olsson is one of the ones many expected to leave anyway, so it'll hardly be a surprise if he does, that said, he's been getting into the first team a lot more recently and doesn't appear to be unhappy since Keano left so who knows..

Rod of the Rovers says...

We cant blame Olsson if he decides he wants to leave. Lets face it BRFC is not an attractive football club at the moment. No manager, incompetent owners and Shebby the Clown directing matters. Unfortunately Olsson could be one of many departures this month, with Robinson and Givet also likely to go. Some people voice their opinion that we can improve the squad by bringing in better players than these. However, they should look at the record of Shabby String so far, because when it comes to bringing in quality players, he has failed miserably...

The loss of Olsson is not something to cry over, who we get in his place might bring tears to our eyes if its Shebby's pick.
If we can get rid of high earners and replace them with good pro's preferably young with plenty of fight we will be stronger overall.Bowyer will have seen a lot of up and coming players and should know somebody.
Deep down Olsson wants away,if you ask me Sam's doing us a favour.
Changing the subject it's nice to see sam give Kean a stuffing,I bet Keans not licking his lips this morning.

They haven't any ambition. They are, for whatever reason, now running the club down. They have realised they are out of their depth big style. Does anyone who contributes to this site honestly believe we will return to the Premier League? After 60 years watching Rovers it grieves me to say it but the club will return to the 70's, 80's era. It's a downward spiral and any-one who thinks otherwise is an optimist without foundation. Believe me, I say all his with a very heavy heart, having witnessed it all before post 1966.

Shebby will sell anyone on the books under orders from Venkys. They want to cut the wage bill and get some cash in.
Face it, we're a cheapo club. If you think business or footie is run on the basis of "I'm not dealing with you, because you said something bad about me" you've probably never been further than Rishton.
The very best option is still that Venkys sell up and depart, all I hope is that when they do, we're still in the Championship and still have Ewood Park.

Dear Mr Gary B...
ok....back to the footy.....!!!

Olson is going as he wants to play in the premier and Givet wants to return to his home land.
For sure they will be missed like many others who have left.
but we need to find other players capable of gelling together and creating a good team at BRFC.

I think most of us know which players are moving on at BRFC.
But who do we want in playing....!!

I'm sure we know a player or two out there in the Football leagues who in their opinion good be a good player for BRFC.

Lets start pointing out the good players who could be good signings for Rovers.

Liverpool reserves.....
Player name:Jon Flanagan
Date of birth:21 Jan 1993
Nationality:English
Position:Defender

livepl res
Player name:Jack Robinson
Date of birth:1 Sep 1993
Nationality:English
Position:Defender

Player name:Wilson Palacios
Date of birth:29 Jul 1984

and also consider....defender
s
Tony McMahon Shfld utd
Andrew Haliday Midbrgh

also
simpson - full back from newcastle
craig gordon - GK

if we need a good young defender who is tough and has ability then maybe you should consider some of the above.

have a look...!!
I think we should go for some of these

or maybe you have some in mind...!!!

Why O Why would the above mentioned want to join a desperately failing club.
It's a no brainer, they would rather stay at there respective clubs and play in the reserves or sit on the bench than be a laughed at.

FYI: He might look good on your computer game but in the real world we already had Simpson on loan for a year and sent him back, he wasn't good enough.

One thing is for sure Venky's = money
So on that basis they are terrified if we do not get back to the premier league.

They will do anything to get us back there as they do not want to face the financial hit in not getting promoted. Including sacking Henning after 10 games in charge.

Fans want promotion for the good of the town/club.

Players want promotion for financial and career prospects reasons.

So we all want the same thing but for different reasons !!

The only person who is not bothered is SHEBBY as long as he keeps his 400,000 wage pa. coming in !!

VENKY'S SACK SHEBBY AND REPLACE WITH A PROPER MANAGEMENT TEAM WITH AN EXPERIENCED MANAGER AT THE HELM !!!

This is just another case of lazy journalism. It's not Sam rocking the boat or Olsson wanting out, it's quite simple really. Read the story above again, the journalist has obviously asked Sam a question for him to make the comment.

The question is simple, Sam has injury problems on the left, the journo has asked "Sam, what about Martin Olsson? Would he interest you?"

“If they have made Martin available I would definitely be interested because I worked with the lad at Blackburn when I was there,” said Allardyce. “I had a good time developing him into what I consider to be quite a good player.

It is very dangerous to twist and believe everything you read in the newspapers. Granted it can unsettle players but Sam doesn't have a vendetta against Blackburn, it is just a small town club that doesn't matter to Sam any more. The journalists and agents are the ones who manufacture moves for players.
