ACCRINGTON boss Leam Richardson says he is delighted to have finally captured Laurence Wilson – six months after the Reds first tried to seal a deal for the full-back.
The ex-Morecambe man has moved to the Crown Ground after a short-term deal at Rotherham United ended.
And now the 26-year-old Liverpudlian has penned a contract until the end of the season – news that delights Richardson.
“People will know Laurence through his time at Morecambe and Chester,” said Richardson.
“Over the last couple of seasons I think he’s been one of the best left-siders in the division.
“He is a player who we targeted in the summer.
“I think he’ll add a lot of quality, hopefully he’ll add a few goals to our team and he adds that little bit more experience that we need.
“He wanted to come and play for us, which is a start.
“I always like lads who want to come and play for Accrington – not just to come and pass time.
“He’s from the surrounding area, he’s committed, he’s experienced and played quite a few games at this level.
“I wouldn’t add players to make the numbers up, he's a player who I think will make us better and I think he’s a player who will get in the team.”
