Blackburn Rovers Column: Ewood divisions need to be resolved quickly
9:33am Thursday 3rd January 2013 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
GARY Bowyer and Terry McPhillips have almost miraculously bought Venky’s some time to sort out the mess that is Blackburn Rovers Football Club. They now need to take it.
Choosing the right manager is obviously a decision they need to get right – for once – but, with the caretaker duo handling the situation admirably, there is another major issue that needs to be sorted first.
How on earth is the club expected to run smoothly when the people charged with controlling it on a day-to-day basis at Ewood Park can’t agree on anything?
The division between operations director Paul Agnew and managing director Derek Shaw on one side and global advisor Shebby Singh on the other is obvious to all and there can be do doubt it is harming the club.
During Tuesday’s impressive 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, Singh even situated himself in a private box to snub Agnew and Shaw, as the pair returned from their crisis talks in India.
Only they can know what the differences of opinion are about and fans will have their own opinions on who is in the wrong and who is in the right.
Forget ‘Team Singh’ or Team ‘Shaw and Agnew’ though, Venky’s have to bang a few heads together to get them working as a team.
If that is impossible, they need to take immediate action and make the necessary changes.
At the moment, it is almost as though the players and the coaches have got two bosses and they don’t know which one’s word is god.
Some players, who want to remain unnamed, agree the current situation is untenable and believe there needs to be some drastic action taken to sort it out.
It was ‘team work’ from top to bottom that saw Blackburn Rovers enjoy the glory years.
Sure, there were differences in opinion along the way, but you always got the feeling everyone was pulling in the same direction.
Not once have you got that feeling under Venky’s.
It has been like a revolving door with power struggles the name of the game and bringing complete confusion to the club.
Venky’s have consistently failed to get the right structure and personnel at the top of the club and they continue to do so.
Until they sort that, it doesn’t matter who they get in is a manager or what players they sign, the club will always be in chaos.
Stability is desperately needed and that is impossible with things the way they are now.

Obviously getting the right Manager for the future of the Clubs progress back to the Premiership ultra important but equally so the general day to day working of the Club - there is no team spirit in the Board Room so no matter how well the Players do ultimately the Board Room atmosphere will have a detrimental effect on them!!!!
Singh Shaw and Agnew need to be replaced with well respected Football Administrators equally Coar who has remained silent through this turmoil needs to set his stall out and decide whether he is working for the Club's future or just looking after his own interests with the FA!!!!
I WOULD SAY OUT WITH THE LOT OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!

There are respected football people out there who could advise Venkys on how to put together a new Board. These advisors need to be people of integrity who have demonstrated they care for their own clubs, preferably those who understand the football culture in he North West.

SINGH - TOTAL UTTER BUFFOON
SHAW - claim to fame, nearly bankrupted PNE
AGNEW - press officer to Director of Operations! Come on, give us a break!
The sooner this shower are removed the better - that would stop the infighting. I could pick three people from the Riverside NOW to do a far, far better job.
And as for the Venky's.............

All three of them should be removed immediately. None are capable of running a professional football club, and are the most incompetent management team in history -

All 3 are incompetent and should be replaced.
If Shebby is calling all the shots and doing as he pleases, why did Venkys bother to appoint Shaw & Agnew as directors in the first place?
I believe it was purely a cosmetic excercise to placate the fans.
Shaw and Agnew must have no influence whatsoever - don't forget that they didn't even attend the club's recent AGM - incredible.
And neither did Shebby - but he's only a global advisor not a director.
Shebby couldn't even explain his own role to Robbie Savage - embarrasing.

Shabby is the big fly in the ointment and needs to go before he makes the club even more of a laughing stock than it already is.
He is clearly more interested in protecting his own position than he is in progressing the club.
Has anyone heard of a 'Shebby Out' protest in the offing?

'No philosophy' at the club he says, he wants to introduce his own perhaps.
'If a player comes knocking on my door', heh, isn't that what a manager usually comes out with?
He's as deluded as Kean was and dreams of leading Rovers to the same level as Barca.
He's a no-mark from Asian football who's been given a fantastic opportunity to promote his own image in the English game. But he was, is and always will be considered a joke and will never achieve his ambition.

Do both hide behind Singhs skirt and let Singh do all the talking? Like Kean do they not like communic\ting with fans or meeting the fans.
Shaw and Agnew may not be Williams and Finn but at least they have some experience and comprehension of English football. But who do we want in playing....!!
Ok, I think we should make recomendations to BRFC as we're football fans and we see or hear of players doing well. I'm sure we know a player or two out there in the Football league who in their opinion good be a good player for BRFC.
Lets start pointing out the players in the lower leagues who could be good signings for Rovers.
who is .......Tony McMahon...??
if we need a good young defender who is tough and has ability then maybe you should consider Tony McMahon who is at Sheffield utd but ex Middbrg.
have a look...!!
I think we should go for him
hes a full back, strong, tough and has scored goals
take a look and let us all know

Also I hope they will introduce a six month Season Ticket from the start of next season so the fans can reward success or failure by renewing or walking away! Assuming there are any Season Ticket holders left of course!
So the club has admitted that it does not have sufficient confidence in the judgement of it's executives to allow them to offer a contract of over 6 months. I take this as a positive sign that they are learning their lessons and are aware of their limitations but why is this statement coming from Shebby the Snake? Surely this should be coming from Shaw. Also I hope they will introduce a six month Season Ticket from the start of next season so the fans can reward success or failure by renewing or walking away! The best thing Venkys could do is invite Dave Whelan to run his eye over the club and make suggestions. I'm sure he'd be pleased to do it and they could rely on him for his integrity
They've hardly been seen since.

It really is a matter of time until we start loosing games hand over fist again. But by that time the window will be closed and any new manager will have the "this isnt my squad" excuse again just like Berg.
I can't believe that the cheif Rovers correspondant hasnt woken up to this fact and bumbles on about "tensions in the corridors of power", frankly I dont care what shebby thinks of Angew or vice versa, I just want a PROPER manager to bring in PROPER players in this window, because we all know that is the only way out of this mess. Any other course of action will result in us A) Being relegated or B) staying in the division for a few years before being relegated.
