TODAY is D-Day – derby day – as Turf Moor hosts the 94th league and cup meeting between two famous East Lancashire clubs.

Dean Marney reclaims his midfield spot in midfield for the Clarets after a one-match ban for accumulated bookings meant he missed the 1-1 draw at Barnsley on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old replaces Marvin Bartley in the line-up, with Bartley dropping back to the bench.

In contrast there are three changes for Blackburn.

Rovers boss Henning Berg promised a shake-up after Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat at home to Bolton Wanderers, and Colin Kazim-Richards, Morten Gamst Pedersen and Jason Lowe have been brought in for Josh King, Ruben Rochina and Dickson Etuhu, who is ruled out through ill.

The focus will be on the club's front men, with Charlie Austin and Jordan Rhodes going head-to-head for the second time this season.

The pair last met at Huddersfield Town earlier in the season, before Rhodes' completed his £8million move to Blackburn before the August transfer deadline.

Rhodes came out on top that afternoon, scoring in a 2-0 win for the Terriers.

But Austin has gone on to blaze the more impressive goal trail this season, scoring 21 goals so far, compared to Rhodes' tally of 15.
