NEW Nelson boss Mark Fell is hoping his Admirals can start to turn the corner in the North West Counties League First Division.
The recently appointed Fell, who left West Lancashire League high flyers Whinney Hill to take over from Michael Morrison and Robert Grimes at Victoria Park, has carried out a rebuilding job as he aims to address a run that has seen Nelson fail to win since August.
And he is hopeful those stats can change tomorrow when they host Atherton Collieries.
“It’s important for us to get settled,” said Fell. “We’ve brought new faces in to do different jobs for different periods of time and some of those short term deals will end this week as we get some of our key personnel back.”
Two of those key personnel are former Accrington Stanley winger Chris Turner and Adnan Ahmed, who returns after spending time on international duty with Pakistan.
And the manager took heart from defeat last week in the First Division Trophy when his side went down to big hitters Abbey Hey.
“When you look at the league table they are the best side around, and if you take the balance of play over the full 90 minutes we’re not very far away at all,” he added.
In the North West Counties League Premier Division there is a big local derby between Barnoldswick Town and Bacup Borough at the Silentnight Stadium as both sides bid to bounce back from defeats last weekend, while impressive Colne make the trip to Runcorn Town.
And Padiham are also on the road as they travel to Wigan Robin Park.
Chorley bid to get back to winning ways in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division as they head to Silverlands for their game with Buxton, while in the Evo-Stik League First Division North Clitheroe are on the Wirral for their game with Cammell Laird and Ramsbottom United cross the Pennines for a clash with Ossett Albion.
