BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche was pleased to pick up a point on the road as his side switch attention to Sunday’s East Lancs derby with Blackburn.

Charlie Austin plundered yet another goal of an already prolific campaign to give the visitors the lead at Barnsley last night, but Marcus Tudgay levelled for the Tykes with a goal on his home debut.

The draw means Dyche’s side missed the chance to leapfrog neighbours Blackburn, for 24 hours at least, in the Championship table.

In fact, the draw saw the Clarets slip to 14th – five points off the final play-off spot.

Austin headed home just five minutes into the encounter at Oakwell to give the travelling fans hope of back-to-back away wins following Saturday’s success at Hull City.

But Tudgay, on loan at Barnsley from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest, replied with a header of his own on 30 minutes.

Both sides had chances to find a winner but in the end had to settle for a point apiece.

Attention now turns to derby day as Dyche leads the Clarets into battle with rivals Blackburn.

Their boss Henning Berg was at Oakwell to cast an eye over the weekend opponents and if he didn’t know before, he will certainly know now, the threat that Austin poses.

His goal last night was a downward header from a Ross Wallace corner which took him to 21 goals for the season and ended his mini-drought of three games without scoring. Austin can cement his Turf Moor hero status with another goal in a win on Sunday.
