Winsford United 3 Bacup Borough 1
12:10pm Monday 26th November 2012 in Sport
BRENT Peters has urged his players to tighten up at the back and find that killer touch in front of goal as they slipped to a second straight defeat, shipping nine goals in to the process.
Following Tuesday’s 6-0 defeat against Colne, Bacup conceded another three in a game they could quite easily have gotten something out of.
Despite dominating much of the opening half, Bacup found themselves a goal down just before the break when Brian Matthews opened the scoring.
But almost immediately, Bacup drew level when Daniel Cocks tapped home from a fine cross from Matty Bryan.
With the pitch getting worse, Bacup were finding it equally as difficult to cope with the conditions as they were with the Winsford’s attacking threat – something Peters says he will have to address.
“The pitches all over are in total decline due to the bad wet weather,” said Peters after second half strikes from Steve Warburton and Matthews condemned his side to defeat.
“If we don’t change then that word decline will be happening to us, something that I will not allow to happen.”
