FULL TIME: Peterborough United 1 Blackburn Rovers 4

A JORDAN Rhodes hat trick has fired Blackburn Rovers back into the Championship play off spots, helping them to a 4-1 win at Peterborough.

The Scottish international added to Mauro Formica's early opener as Rovers blew the hosts away with an impressive display.

Lee Tomlin struck an 88th minute consolation for a struggling Peterborough as Rovers climbed back to sixth in the table.

Rovers were given the perfect start when Mauro Formica fired home on just three minutes after Rhodes' shot had been blocked.

The hosts looked dangerous going forward but, with Ruben Rochina pulling the strings for Berg's men, Rovers looked capable of scoring every time they attacked.

It was 2-0 on 20 minutes as Rhodes headed Martin Olsson's cross home, via Peterborough defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival, and the striker scored his second sic minutes before the break.

Rochina picked the ball up on the halfway line and, after making progress, slipped a defensive splitting pass for Rhodes to clinically finish.

Peterborough improved after the break and Saido Berahino forced a smart save from Paul Robinson, before Grant McCann fired wide on 53 minutes.

Jordan Rhodes should have completed his hat trick after being put through by a clever pass from Formica.

But, having rounded goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik, Rhodes could only drag his shot wide from a tight angle.

The Scottish international was not to be denied though as he completed his treble on 79 minutes, heading home from close range after Scott Dann had headed Formica's corner across goal.

Lee Tomlin scored late on for the hosts before substitute Nuno Gomes hit the post for Rovers in injury time.

Get in there.
Henning Berg, one defeat in four.
Team playing like a team, and if Rochina had picked the right option on four more occasions it could have been a lot bigger margin and no goals conceded as well. But on the whole, a massive improvement.
And the dingles got dumped as well. Scott Dann played well except for one mistake and as a defensive unit we looked a lot more cohesive.
Well done Henning and the lads.

And the best thing is, we did it playing football. Without getting too carried away, has anyone else noticed the diferrence from a few weeks ago? (and the last 2 years) Everyone wants the ball now, players are not scared of shooting or trying for that killer pass. Not getting carried away of course but at last there is a little chink of optimism in the ranks. Could it be that things are tuning in our favour at just the right time, and that the Burnley fans, as usual, get so nervous before they play us, which makes them go all quiet before, DURING, AND AFTER the big game; that the 34 year run is going to continue? Or am I just getting too carried away with the silver lining that seems to be, slowly, but surely shining over us at the moment?

Fully agree, but Rochina has to improve his decision making. Could easily have been 6/7 tbh. Rochina's messing about on the edge of the box and losing the ball led directly to their goal but overall brilliant, especially in the first half!!

A very well deserved win and great performance. The gulf in class was there for all to see. Posh may well be in the same league but lets face it Rovers were in another league in terms of quality and we could've easily had 7 or 8!

This is now a great platform to really get our season going. Rochina was fantastic tonight but will no doubt get a rocket from the gaffer for a school boy error that allowed their sumo wrestler to score, when the truth is they deserved zilch.

All in all big smiles and looking forward to Milwall next week!

There were some frustrating bits eg sloppy passing and could have got it out to the wings more but things are looking much brighter. Peterborough are a very poor side. No way will Rhodes left unmarked in other games to come so we can't get carried away

Only just got back mate.. Long trip, but boy was it worth every minute!

Voicebox needs resting, as does all my other bits, feel like I played the 90 mins lol. We were good, we can be better, we will be better. Defensive mistakes, still too much dribbling close to our own box for my liking, would still prefer a bit more stability up top and yes, Rhodes unmarked was pitiful on their part and we won't get that with the better teams but we're looking more and more comfortable playing Bergs way and the players seem to be enjoying their football much more than under the previous bald chap.

Etuhu seems to be coming along too, thought he looked better today, Henley is impressing more and more.

And last but not least.

Yak left a whole in my scoring heart that Jordan Rhodes has filled. Such modesty, maturity and dignity (CK take note!) truly a gem of a find. He scores when he wants to, he scores when he wants. Oh yeah.

Night all. In Berg we trust. Got to say Shebby just maybe knew what he was talking about.. Hmm.. There's a thought lol.

Hmm.. There's a thought lol. blueblooded

My first away game. 1-0 at half-time if I remember right. Getting stick at HT from Vale supporters about missing out on promotion. Scored 4 second half and secured promotion with that win.

A win against whatevertheyrecalled doesn't really compare to that. The home game against this ragbag outfit should be the easiest game of the season.

Welldone and Rhodes is amazing in the box again with his foot and head.

I feel , the players did a good job, but don't forget the posh team is not so great to face and access our strength.

Murphy and Etuhu need more control in the game, I saw the impact is not there in both of them.

Rochina need more Shooting pratice, lots of time he dosen't get the timing with the ball. Ollson brother's are cool, they did a good work in the posh game.

I feel Formica need more running with pace to win and control the ball. he some time lost the pace, which is not acceptable. Robbo is showing great courage, he miss the clean sheet in the last 10 mts. Always the team had this problem at the ending time. lazy effort and lost the ball in front of our box.

Over all the team is showing great improvement, Thanks- ORR is gone for loan, see the difference. hahahahah.

Best of luck on 24th Nov .

Good performance great result but against better sides we would have been punished in some of the sloppy passing in midfield and the lack of tracking back by midfielders. I am amazed that when they loose or give the ball away there seems no urgency to run back and fight for the ball - Danny M and Rochina in particular.

Rochina is a talent his pass for the third goal was sublime but is he a 90 minute player? or do we give him 45 minutes and replace him - same question about Murphy. Stick Martin Olsson on the wing and bring Givet in

4 of the 6 goals featured our hero being incapable of stopping his man !.

An excellent result but I still thought we looked a bit fragile at the centre of defence. Unfortunately Rochina didn't bring his shooting boots or we would have had more. It's nice to see the ball being played around on the deck a bit although there are still a lot of misplaced passes that might cost us against the better teams. Things are definitely looking up for the Rovers!

Sorry to disagree ,but Etuhu doesn't cut it with me,
If he's in there to break up play then fine, but we where playing bottom of the table, and against a more competitive outfit, he and his Fulham counterpart go missing to often ( boro wolves palace ) murphy can't last 60 mins , game in, game out, and Etuhu has got to contribute more, Fulham got shut of the pair for a reason, and in this division games come thick and fast, and these 2 can be squad players at best

I agree, don't you just hate it when something happens repeatedly for no apparent reason.

Sure there was a 1-4 @ port vale
what a day out that was, there must have been around five thousand Rovers fans on that open end....most of them well inebriated and we were going to have a party come what may...and what a party. well I got up this morning and the sun is shining, the birds are singing (for they never felt more like singing) and for the first time in a long time I actually bothered reading the rovers reviews.....
Hats off to Henning.... he can do no more in a few weeks.
and OK to the points above but Ruben is a talent and he is a bit raw but what a future ... if we can go on from here... Rhodes, Formica Hanley, Henley the olssons, loewe et al..... not too mention how strong the bench was; hoped to see Vukevic again as I thought he was superb when he came on against Brum, so with our resources we should up there AND we have to be up there to hold onto these lads..... please god dont let the Venkys spy a big profit..

I appreciate they are bottom of the league and stronger teams wont give us the room to play like that but its confidence and a win which can only make them a better unit.

Bring on the dingles as the support that went to the Posh sang loud .... good on 'em.

first time im posting on here but its also the first time in a long time its felt good to be a rover! know its one result and one performance but its the fashion we won in that was pleasing. its the first time we've played proper football since hughesy was in charge. we looked confident in possesion and managed kept the ball in tight situations. theres some talented players in the squad and hennings giving them the freedom to show what they can do. rochina oozes class. just needs a good manager to iron out his decision making, give him the playing time and he will only get better. rhodes will and already is thriving off him. murphy and etuhu will only get better if we keep playing like that because its the style of football theyve always played. balance on the wings was good. pace on the left and the craft in formica on the right. would like to see fabio nunez back fit and on the left. looks a prospect. solid at the back. glad to see hanley and henley in the team. good riddance bradley! lowe, pedersen and gomes are not bad subs to bring on either. it wasnt just the fans that enjoyed it. the players looked to as well. what a differnce a good manager can make. kean you mug! the only way is up?

I hope Kean watched that match. Same players, different manager. How to turn a ragtag side into a smooth, free flowing, energetic outfit. I hope the Venky's are hanging their head in shame. The last two years should never have happened. A proper manager at last.
Interesting comment on tv....Rovers had on the bench players with over 200 and odd international caps between them. What other team can beat that?

And the crazy thing is that, by most peoples reckoning Berg is not regarded as much more than a novice manager !

Steve Keans ignorance and arrogance prevented him from ever understanding what 'his squad' were capable of.

I hope Henning goes on to have a great long career as Rovers boss, and that the football world turns their backs on the odious one and his agent.

Just angry that people keep looking back through rose tinted glasses.

Allardyce did not want to be a Ewood, for 12 to 18 months before he left he made it very clear that he was far too good for us and was touting himself all over the place, including Barcelona if I remember correctly.

In the meantime he inflicted the worst ever style of football I have ever seen at Ewood in over 40 years of supporting the blues, not to mention certain games against one particular club that left a great deal of doubt in my mind.

We have just won 4 -1 away from home, played some excellent football in the process and personally I can't wait for the next game, something I have rarely done for the last 4 years or so.

I logged on looking for positives for a change, and the word "disgusted" actually disgusted me.

Jack Walker is history, his family just flogged of the club to a Indian family in India. You have to look to the future.I was born in Blackburn and Rovers supporter through and through. The Rovers Board sold this club as Robert Coar the Chairman then said to a good family in India as there was no intrest from an American or Arab Billionaires. This is a small town and a small club with average gate of 24,000 .The Asian and whites do not live together in Blackburn as many whites think we live in ghettos of central parts of the town.As for your Walker family, the Cathedral in Blackburn requires £3 million for renovation for this great Cathedral has the Walkers donated any of their millions. The muslims in Blackburn build mosques for £3 million from donation from all muslims in Blackburn including those top Asian Bussinessmen.Do not say Venky is the reason for Blackburn Rovers being in the mess. The Walkers family did not want to invest anymore since the death of late Jack Walker.Yes Jack Walker was a great man pumping his huge wealth into a small town club who were in old second ad third division and Ewood Park was a cow sheds.Time has changed ,football has moved to another level where top players cost anything beetween £10 to £30 million pounds and players wage could be around £100,000 to £200,00.Blackburn Rovers now cannot compete with the top clubs likes of Man Utd,Liverpol,Spurs,C
helsea,Man City,Arsenal because they are big city clubs with gates of 40,000.I rest my case.

You're bang on there , If Berg does manage to succeed at Ewood and get us part way back to where we were just a couple of years ago ,as we all pray, then he will have done it despite the fact that venkys have , and allowed others to mismanage the club for their own profit and ego,s to the extant that our once proud and respected Club became a laughing stock around the football world. Hopefully, Berg can repair a lot of the damage and create a team that will bring the fans back and be serious contenders for the automatic places.I will however never ever forgive or forget the parasites who have come close to destroying the football Club that i have supportedand loved since 1969. Good luck Henning ,you're gonna need it with the clownish oafs supposedly running the Club ........ Henning Bergs Blue & White Army !!!!

Sure there was a 1-4 @ port vale
what a day out that was, there must have been around five thousand Rovers fans on that open end....most of them well inebriated and we were going to have a party come what may...and what a party. It carried on back in Blackburn as the Rovers fans arrived home too....never seen as many people stood on tables in pubs as that night....hope we don't have to wait as long for the next 4-1 away.....could it be at the Turd..?
Remember it well, it was the next to last game of the season 74/75 .Faz, Metcalfe & Hickman the scorer 's , what a dump that ground was at PortVale ! But happy days !
happy days indeed...but winning the prem was just as happy - but we shared that with many more people....lots of new fans which was great, but where are they all now?

As for the guy who is going on about Walkers v Venkys then It is impossible to compare these two owners as there is a million miles between the feelings that Jack had for the club as a local lad, and that which any other (non Blackburn owner not specifically the Vs) could possibly ever have for the club.

Also - if Venkys are such a force for India and the Indian people then why are more of our local Blackburn Asia/ Indian people not coming down to support the Rovers? They would be very welcome at Ewood, it would be great to have a full house of all Blackburn folk of all creeds and colours.

The contrasting fortunes of Big Sam and Mark Hughes are rather problematic to those Rovers fans who demonise the former and idolise the latter.

You seem a little confused. Just to clear things up for you. Jack Walker = Absolute legend who will go down in history, as THE best thing ever to happen to this once proud club, and to take this once proud club to the pinnacle of English football.

Compare that to the vermin in India, who have turned this once proud club into a complete, and utter shambles. They also employed that chancer Kean, for TWO years, and had he not quit, would STILL be employed by the IDIOTS in India. Also, take a closer look at some of the other employees of this once proud club. It's rotten to the core! I could go on, but i'd be here all ******* night!

Jack Walker built the club. Venky's f***** it up!

The contrasting fortunes of Big Sam and Mark Hughes are rather problematic to those Rovers fans who demonise the former and idolise the latter.
Big Sam was sacked when he did little more than retaliate to being told how to do his job. Sparky dumped us for bigger things after we gave him his big break.

ROVERS won and played stonker, Dingles lost and went down a stinker this weekend.

All's right with the world my end.

Perhaps if the owners actually turned up to the games, to take the rough with the smooth, as you put it, it might set an example to the stayaway fans you are preaching to.
Admire your passion but you are as misinformed as the mod and chap nut in the opposite direction. Who do you think employed Henning Berg, Rhodes etc.?

Sure Venky's have screwed up, but to thank Henning for putting the team back whilst blasting the people who employed him is as near-sighted as the Modan character going on about them being the best thing to happen to the club.

Got to keep it in perspective, we were a lost club with owners who wanted to offload us to anyone who had the cash, venkys were introduced by agents who saw a quick buck and we know the rest. Whichever way you see it, we're here, Venky's seem to be giving Shebby space and he's brought some much needed stability to the situation and the team. I don't expect anyone to start loving Venky's or hail Shebby as the new Messiah, but rose-tinted specs go both ways.

I always liked Mike Hickman nothing fancy but he always gave you one hundred percent and was a key signing by Gordon lee to give us that final cutting edge,it was a great team.

The thng that impressed me most was the unity at last. The players and the manager, the team and the fans and at long last, the supporters chanting the managers name. Won't get carried away by beating Posh as they were awful, but the shoots of recovry are beginning to show. Build on this and add a couple of bodies in January and away we go.

Also, reatto hear OUR manager talking complete and utter sense in his post match interview. Well done all.

PS. Last 4-1away was in promotion season under Souness at Grimsby on a sodden Wednesday night with that awful temporary stand.Jansen got a couple if I remember right. We also beat Bolton 4-1 the same season on a Friday night at The Breezeblock. Added stat, we beat Forest 5-1 at the City Ground in 95-96 I think.

Unfortunately I haven't got a spare hour to pick through the bones of that pointless and uninformative tosh. You've wasted your own time writing it (badly) and wasted my time by stupidly allowing myself to read it. If you're suggesting we should be grateful for the way Venkys have run BRFC over the last 2 years, I'm afraid your way way off the mark. What has the Cathedral requiring renovation got to do with Rovers? Are you suggesting us 'whites' don't give a sh1t about the town because the Cathedral need money spending on it? If you hadn't noticed, religion doesn't rule most english Blackburn folks life - unlike muslims, football is our religion!

Which leads me nicely to my next point, which is frankly I don't give a sh1t what muslims do to build mosques or who donates the money. As far as I am concerned they are nothing but an eye sore that have no place in the town but that is another argument for another time and place.

As you're so educated on modern day football, you'd be aware Jack Walker died over 12 years ago. That means Rovers haven't been able to compete with Utd, Citeh, Chelsea, Arsenal and the likes for along time. We had however had been a regular fixture in the Premier League. Why? Because the club was run like a well oiled swiss watch by real football people. Not some chicken farmers who didn't even realise a football was round untill 2 years ago, who made a string of catastrophic decisions the most disastrous of which was to appoint Steve 'worst manager of all time' Kean as manager.

So what I'd recommend is next time you decide to waste your time posting drivel on here, think again sunny boy and take Harwoods advice... stick to cricket.

I rest my case.

****.
Your point?
Nick, calm down pal, as someone else has pointed out already, you missed the point of the original post. If you read it again you will see It was a satirical dig at Smelly Diamond.
Oh bummer, sorry guys, lol.... lol..... blush
The contrasting fortunes of Big Sam and Mark Hughes are rather problematic to those Rovers fans who demonise the former and idolise the latter.
Still worshipping those hooves Bazzer, Maybe Christ himself will have to overturn your Big Sam shrine. The order of the hoof ( percentage game) will stand up to the riggers of the PL, yet they will win **** all my son except Arsne Wenger doing a Basil Faulty on the touchline.

Your real football people flogged off BRFC to chiken farmers in India.Have you got cash to buy this club, your family friends, got any millions to buy BRFC ? Woud any Billionaires want to invest their vast wealth ino a small club in Lancashire with gates of 24,000 ?Jack Walker spent his Small fortunes in his beloved BRFC.His family flogged off this club to a family in India for a £48 million plus debts the club owed. The chicken farmers happen to be Billionaires in India as you have insulted this family.Do you think all these foreigners from USA,Malysia,Middle East,India and China buys our football clubs knows about football in UK.The Clubs and fans wants these Billionaires to invest like Man City,QPR,Birmingham,
Liiverpool and Manchester United. Robert Coar the Chairman and people in the BRFC Boards sold this club to this Indian family because the Walker family wanted to sell the club to anybody with hard cash. Many football clubs in England are looking for foreign buyers, check it out .Leeds FC is looking for buyers for the last six years. The fact is there are not many Billionaire sugar daddies about in the world.

Your point?
Given the choice between Lardarse and Hughesy ,? no contest, Hughesy won things with us, attempted to play football, Lardarse reached for the stars literally lol. he just didn't have anyone capable of kicking it that high.

But he made certain his mate Fergus did ok.

interesting multicultural posts about today.....Modan's posts may not always be easy to understand but the lad(?) writes with passion about the subject. He also makes a few valid points among some of his rather wordy stuff - not least the point he makes about the WT not having many (if any) other options but to sell to the Venkys. The club had been up for sale and hawked around for a couple of years prior to them buying it. If we think that there is some kind of 'blame' attached to the V's for buying the Rovers, then who is that 'blame' attached to? The WT?
Or maybe to JW, RC and TF and the rest of the Rovers board - some think they doth not protest enough at the time?
Guess the last people to 'blame' (if at all) for buying the club could be the Venkys. There are though of course no comparisons to be made about what Jack did for the club and what the Venkys will or can do.
He was a local lad who loved the team and loved the town and its people. He knew the people.
However much the V's (or anyone else who could have bought the club) put into the Rovers it will NEVER match what Jack did for us. I guess the point I am labouring to try and make is that whilst we will never ever forget Jack Walker - that whatever you think about them - we have to look forward and face the future under and with our current owners. IMO Jordan Rhodes and Henning Berg coming into our club gives us some small but important reason to look forwards for the first time since the Venkys came in. Who knows what lies ahead? Maybe the Mayans?

Frenchy, we all know Venkys bought Blackburn Rovers, and what a **** they have made of it. I wish they hadn't done either but I can't change that.

I find Modans views on Blackburn and Jack Walker, frankly offensive, displaying the same ignorance and arrogance we have seen from Venkys and Steve Kean for the last 2 years.

I have regularly acknowledged my support for Henning Berg and like you look forward to the future but what I do not need is this irrelevant indian suprmacist propaganda from a nation that actually leads the world in poverty.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction - Modan and Smelly Diamond deserve each other.

Lets talk football tomorrow.

I rest my case.[/p]
The chicken farmers happen to be Billionaires in India as you have insulted this family.Do you think all these foreigners from USA,Malysia,Middle East,India and China buys our football clubs knows about football in UK.The Clubs and fans wants these Billionaires to invest like Man City,QPR,Birmingham, Liiverpool and Manchester United. Robert Coar the Chairman and people in the BRFC Boards sold this club to this Indian family because the Walker family wanted to sell the club to anybody with hard cash. Many football clubs in England are looking for foreign buyers, check it out .Leeds FC is looking for buyers for the last six years. The fact is there are not many Billionaire sugar daddies about in the world.[/p]
But not all football club buyers dismantle the structure of the club and replace the manager straight away with a second rate coach. dezzer48

I have asked and discussed with many Asians of Blackburn about their views regards their views on Venkeys.
What becomes very clear is that they - Asians of Blackburn - are supporters and fans of BRFC just like every other fan/supporter of BRFC.
They have resided in Blackburn for up to and over 50 years and truly are fans with BRFC enshrined in their hearts and minds.

These British Asians of Blackburn are proud to be British and proud of BRFC.

However, the Venkeys are not like these British Asians in Blackburn.
Indians from India -Those rich billionaires who have recently come and bought BRFC. These people are only after their profits, they don't want to know Blackburn, they don't care about Blackburn.
They have made their billions from exploiting poor people and Blackburn's Asians would have been in abject poverty were they still in India as Venkeys would have oppressed down right to the bottom of the poverty scale..
So it is a fact that these British born Asians of Blackburn are fans /supporters of BRFC and will always remain so.

Lets not divide our fans, our supporters irrespective of colour, creed or religion but rather stick together and not allow the vultures within society to destroy us and BRFC.

Whilst applauding your sentiments re Blackburn Asian supporters. I must say that considering the proportion of Asian Fans to Asian residents in Blackburn there should be a far greater attendance at BRFC of Asians. It is a very small section of the community that actualy attend matches. If the proportions were as they should be then Ewood Park would be heaving at every match.

Your point?
Given the choice between Lardarse and Hughesy ,? no contest, Hughesy won things with us, attempted to play football, Lardarse reached for the stars literally lol. he just didn't have anyone capable of kicking it that high. But he made certain his mate Fergus did ok.
The classic tactic of the man with egg all over his face. Making "funny" jokes. The league table is the cruel and harsh killing ground these days, where 4th in the Premiership is a far bigger prize than any cup. I don't like it either, but that is the way it is.

I absolutely agree with you about that. I said right at the start of this debate, this is not now, never has been, and never will be about race. That can only ever be destructive. I'm pleased to see so little support was offered for Mohan and his divisive opinions.

Everyone is welcome to get down to Ewood and show their support, if Blackburns asian community can unite behind BRFC that would be great.
