I trust berg's judgment. We won the leauge with Peace and Tony Gale (38) playing CB for most of it, so I think quality is there for this league. A settled squad could make a big difference. Fingers crossed 3 points start coming in today. Any news on Best? Must be getting close now to starting training?

I think Dann is comfortable at this level, he looks a different player. He was not up to it last season and if we are promoted he will need to be replaced if at all possible. After the performance at Ewood vrs Birmingham the future is bright but we must have patience. It took kean near two years to completely rip our club apart, please don't expect or demand this to be put right in a matter of weeks. A point away at a Peterborough side battling to get out of the bottom three would be acceptable and keeping our 33 year unbeaten record at the dingledome would be awesome.

Defensively we are performing better than almost all the other teams in this league. Everyone seems to believe that defensively we are very poor and conceding goals all over the place - but in reality if you look from the start of October then we only conceded 5 goals in 8 games.
Plus there are only 2 (yes 2) other teams in this league that have conceded LESS goals than the Rovers. So the on and off-field teams are doing quite a sound job defensively and deserve more credit than they are currently getting.

I must say, I didn't know anything about hendry's recent past until he was employed here and people started digging up his past.

The above post actually has some wise words. He lost his wife and went off the rails... I bet most of you haven't lost a wife? If you have then I have sympathy for you, but for those who haven't.. I wonder what your past would look like if we dug it up?!

I'm not defending his actions, I just want to be at Ewood where everyone is shouting positive things, not the constant barrage of foul abuse I hear every week towards our own players and staff!!

Well I kanda disagree with you both. Dann looks okay at this level and he is still lacking a bit in confidence and thats about it. I think if he got a promotion under his belt he would be a different player and would be fine in the PL.
Last season he suffered a ruptured testicle half way through the season yet still came back in.
You guys tell me, if you had suffered the same injury how much commitment would you have shown when going for a 50 50 ball?
People seem to forget this, it would take a heck of a long time to get over an injury like that and perform at the highest level. Danns best is still to come, he was injured when he arrived and then got injured again. He was then playing catch up.
I trust Bergs judgement and think he has got it spot on. My only concern woud be is our holding midfielder good enough? He doesn't dominate the game enough.

I know some might not agree with Henning saying he's happy with the current squad and back room staff but he's proving he is willing to see exactly what we have at the moment and to give everybody a chance.
You can't knock him for that.
We'd all be on here calling him this and that if he got rid of people who could do a job without being given a chance. There have been plenty if squad members who have been given a chance so far and have grabbed their chance and shown enthusiasm, ability and fight.
At least this way if he does make changes then we can agree with him and continue backing him.
IMO we need another CB and CM with pace but we have to assume Henning knows what he wants.

I have been really impressed so far, in fact have started getting excited about the team again and even think that promotion is a possibility this season if we do back him as vocally as fans can. If not this season, I'd feel in a really strong favourable position for next.
It's early days but its positive again and I didn't think I'd be saying that so soon.

It's very easy being selective in who is not worthy to be at the club.

I'm not Hendry's biggest fan as a coach and as a person (be it what you read in the news) but he was a legend as a player and hopefully Henning will get to decide if Hendry is needed at the club.... Not the vying posters with hidden vendettas.

I think we are all concerned at the depth of cover in the back four but Berg is right in that he will only bring in loan signings that are better quality than what we have now. Lest we forget quantity rather than quality Kean. Within the loan market there isn't the quality or they are young players sent out for experience and we have enough of those in the back 4 already. I do hope that Henning is looking to January to buy some experienced quality and strengthen there. What is evident is that since Berg took over the defence is playing much better as are the whole team because we are playing as a team again.

I'm not saying whether Hendry should go or stay. However if he is earning the reported £8000 a week, (more than most of us can only dream of ) shouldn't he be making some effort to repay the people from whom he borrowed the money.

BRFC have played well under HB but we ain't got the points.
Ultimately we need to win matches.
A lot of positives from the last couple of games, although just draws.
We should be winning.....but its football.
many players have looked better then what they have of late.

However, the issue of tired players remains a big issue.
Many are talking about the issue of fitness.....!
yes that is a problem but.....is it the only issue......
I would say that its the age & pace of many BRFC players that's the real cause of the problem.
We have too many old or slow players at the club.
Football is a fast game and we require players capable of playing for 90 minutes.
Unfortunately, we cant expect older , slow, unfit players to last that long.
Hence, in my view we need to find players in the age range of 20- 27.

Well it seems BRFC have got too many elderly /slow players and playing together in matches does not help their cause.

BRFC need to replace their elderly / slower quickly do. We should not be buying older players but Yes we should keep the ones that are older within the club to give much needed experience for other younger players. The average age of footballers in my opinion should be around 22 - 27 and in my view the clubs that have got the balance right are successful. e.g Man Utd, Liverpool...etc.
The teams with too many older statesmen in the long run are veering to far in one direction? and that is a losing position to have in football.

BRFC have got elderly / slower players playing in important positions and we cant expect them to compete for 90 minutes...its simply not possible for elderly people.
BRFC have got slow and elderly players in positions which require faster paced players.

The center of our defense is slow and cumbersome.
The center of our midfield is slow and cumbersome.

These are vital areas in football, we need stronger, skilled, all action heroes like we have had in our BRFC history.

The ones we have had playing are simply not good enough or too old.

Yes, I agree D Murphy was a great player in his heyday and YES he was a good player in his heyday...
but that was many years ago.
he is past it at best and will only be able to have a few good games.
We need to accept he is old now and virtually past it.
maybe Etuhu did play well at times in the past. but the same applies to him also.

However, in my opinion, we need to find a youngish midfield general who can dictate play and provide the link up with the strikers.
We need all action heroes as befitting BRFC.

Yet again a discussion board about football decends into matters that don't concern anyone but those involved. Hendry has gone bankrupt and has a repayment order on him which he has to comply with or he will go to jail.
Other accusations have no substance as he has not been charged with anything.
How simple is that to understand, too many lacking grey matter on these threads.
Why not leave matters of law, to the lawmakers, and matters of football to the football supporters, there are plenty of threads about crime and politics for you to get your teeth into elsewhere.

+1 Hendry haters need to get a grip. A website and a few commenters posting like they were there is enough evidence to hang him. These are probably the same type of cretins that would have burnt women as witches. Give it a rest will you.

I read the website too. Initially appalled at what I was reading and one does wonder why a website would be the chosen means of exposing an evil as is depicted on the site. If he's so bad, aren't the "poor" "elderly" couple worried he may come after them? I mean he is an evil gambling violent wide beater, surely he's no qualms beating them up?

in my opinion its because we have too many elderly and slow players in the team.
FOOTBALL is a fast game and they need to be able to last for 90 minutes
Unfortunately BRFC have too many slow or over the hill type players.
For me that's the biggest issue within the team.

Dann, Hanley, Givet are slow
Murphy, Etuhu, Pederson, Dunn are old and past it.
Gomes is old and not strong enough.

The centre of our defence is slow and the centre of our midfield is slow.
we certainly can't compete with those players especially as we aim to get back where we belong in the Premiership.

We are missing a midfield general, to dictate play and link up the strikers

I was always brought up to believe....neither lender nor borrower be! Perhaps a maxim the pensioners should have followed. Whilst having sympathy for their predicament it was of their own making. Too trusting by far. I wouldn't even lend money to a relative, never mind a neighbour. As for Hendry he will probably realise in time that what he did was wrong and hopefully make amends. In the mean time he is trying to help HB get a potential promotable team back on track after two years of horrendous football. I for one thoroughly enjoyed last Saturday's game and could see the signs that Henning is getting the job done.
As for today's game....GET INTO 'EM!

I'm surprised Henning has not identified a big holding target man up front in order to change the game when needed as Eric Black did during his time in charge. This seems an obvious part of our game that is missing. Using Rhodes like this tends to limit him to a couple of shots a game therefore I can't understand this. Hope Hennings is not a puppet. Most managers in his position would go and get one ( sounds like penny pinching to me ) after what was said about the wages of the previous potential loan signing from Stoke. Since Keans gone it seems like we are missing someone to hate and Hendry fits the bill. I know he has had some very bad press of late but lets judge him on what he does for the club, his passion for Rovers cannot be disputed both as a player and now on the touchline. He will have played a big part in straightening the defence when Eric was in charge and maybe he lost his way with the tragic happenings to his wife and still misses her influence, who knows. but he has always been a good servant to the club and as long as he behaves himself from now I think he deserves a chance to help Blackburn and give him a chance to turn a corner in his life Blackburn fans used to be very reasonable. Lets get back to that and support everyone for now to become successful this season

I was always brought up to believe....neither lender nor borrower be! Perhaps a maxim the pensioners should have followed. Whilst having sympathy for their predicament it was of their own making. Too trusting by far. I wouldn't even lend money to a relative, never mind a neighbour. As for Hendry he will probably realise in time that what he did was wrong and hopefully make amends. In the mean time he is trying to help HB get a potential promotable team back on track after two years of horrendous football. I for one thoroughly enjoyed last Saturday's game and could see the signs that Henning is getting the job done.

Some people on here talk of Hendry being a legend with his heart set in the Rovers. I remember Hendry sitting in the stand at Port Vale having
refused to play for us - he joined City the following week. So much for loyalty, fellas.

Returning to football matters... I suspect the reason there won't be too many additions to the squad is the huge size of the squad in the first place! 39 players (38 if you exclude Bradley Orrful) is excessive for this level and is far higher than we ever had in the Premiership. The basic problem is that numbers are too high and quality too low.

Unless Berg can ship some out on loan. Its either that or Berg is working within the fiscal guidelines stipulated at his appointment e.g. The penny pinching ways Kean was happy to work within. Hope not though. We are in desperate need for improved defenders. Be interesting to see what difference Givet makes

in my opinion its because we have too many elderly and slow players in the team.
FOOTBALL is a fast game and they need to be able to last for 90 minutes
Unfortunately BRFC have too many slow or over the hill type players.
For me that's the biggest issue within the team.
we have too many slow players not able to last 90 minutes.
Dann, Hanley, Givet are slow
Murphy, Etuhu, Pederson, Dunn are old and past it.
Gomes is old and not strong enough.

We are missing a midfield general, to dictate play and link up the strikers
We need a big target man to play alongside Rhodes.
We need a fast center back who can play....!!!
