BARNOLDSWICK Town hold the hopes of the area tomorrow as they take another step along the road to Wembley in the FA Vase In-form Barlick have eased their way into fourth place in the North West Counties League Premier Division and are bang in form with five wins in their last six games – including a headline grabbing 9-0 romp over Stone Dominoes last Saturday and a 2-0 win at Squires Gate in midweek.

And they hope to take that form into tomorrow’s clash with Armthorpe Welfare of the Baris Counties East League at the Silentnight Stadium in the second round clash.

Co-manager Ben Hall is happy with his side’s efforts but is also keeping his feet on the ground and said: “We were superb at Stone and in midweek and we really kept going throughout.

“Last Saturday we were ruthless in our approach which is what we need to be if we want to be successful.

“But we need to keep going.”

The weekend’s action kicks off tonight when Bacup Borough entertain AFC Liverpool in the North West Counties League Premier Division.

Borough are hoping that the lure of Friday night football will attract a bumper crowd to the Brian Boys West View Stadium and have arranged the match in order to stage a memorial game in memory of former player Bryan Herbert, who died last month.

And busy boss Brent Peters has pulled off a transfer coup by securing the services of former £100,000 signing Adam Dawson from Wigan Athletic.

The midfielder-cum-striker, who has appeared for Accrington Stanley on loan this season, was signed as a schoolboy by Liverpool for £100k at the age of 14.

Although later released he rebuilt his career at Bury and was signed by the Latics. He is set to make his debut tonight.

In the Evo-Stik League Premier Division, Chorley bid to force their way back into the top five tomorrow but face a real test against league leaders North Ferriby United at Victory Park, while Clitheroe, in second spot in the First Division North, aim to make it three wins on the spin when they travel to New Mills.

Ramsbottom United lost for the first time in eight matches against Mossley last weekend and aim to bounce back when they make the trip to Trafford.

Darwen are in North West Counties League Challenge Cup action and face Holker Old Boys, while in the Premier Division Colne are on the road to Stone Dominoes and Padiham welcome Runcorn Linnets to The Arbories.

Nelson are looking for a first win under new boss Mark Fell when they entertain Rochdale Town at Victoria Park – and are determined to recover from their midweek 4-0 loss at Holker.

While there is mitigation for the Admirals given the long Tuesday journey, Fell is demanding more.

“It’s a learning curve for some players and they’ve got to learn quick,” he said.

“We weren’t good enough,” blasted Fell, “There are no excuses, the defensive display was poor and we gifted them two early goals through basic defensive errors and an inability to compete in the midfield and put our foot in.
